About the adventure
Start a new Halloween tradition! A party of heroes bravely storm Ravenloft, the home of the vampire Strahd. No reinforcements and no plan, they must rely on their wits, strength, and resolve to end the Dread Lord. Along the way they may discover helpful relics, potential allies, and uncover the secrets of the ancient and mysterious castle. This one-shot will be a roughly 4-hour timed session. The name of the game is to gather enough knowledge and resources from Ravenloft to defeat Strahd in a final confrontation. To do that, though, you must navigate through a haunted castle and survive its perils!

About me
Howdy! I'm Andrew. A few years after I graduated college, some friends suggested we play the Firefly Role-Playing Game for game night. Over the next month, we planet hopped, fought off reavers, and lassoed a satellite. Later that year, a different group invited me to play D&D 5e. I've been hooked ever since. I wear my "Forever GM" badge with pride and have been running games for over 10 years. I love to explore new systems and ways to play. I hope to bring that same energy to StartPlaying and help others connect via games in the same way I have. Games I have enjoyed running include: D&D 5e, Call of Cthulhu, Blades in the Dark, and Triangle Agency. I (chronically) collect games as well, hoping one day to play them. Maybe we will give a new one a spin?

Creating your character
Due to the timed nature of the game, players are asked to pick a class they wish to play and will be provided a pregenerated and sufficiently spooked up character. Character art, personality, background, and history will all be left to the player to determine.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord will be our chat platform. Foundry VTT will be our tabletop. No purchase is necessary for either, but you will need an established Discord account. A link to both the Discord server and Foundry will be sent prior to the game.
What Andrew brings to the table
Pregenerated characters will be provided to the players. I'm happy to tweak these pregens to a player's preference given we have enough notice! We will be exploring Ravenloft in Foundry VTT using beautiful maps crafted by Racooze. Music and sounds sourced from the fantastic library of Tabletop Audio. Combat will be fierce, avoiding or deescalating conflict will be rewarding. I love to reward clever uses of spells, skills, and items.
Homebrew rules
We will be using the Epic Heroism Rest Rule - Short Rests are 1 minute, Long Rests are 1 hour. This allows you to act big in every combat!

How Andrew creates a safe table
Pregame: In our initial correspondence, Lines and Veils will be discussed and documented. Midgame: Safety tools (including anonymous X,N, & O cards) have been included into Foundry toolset. We will run a tutorial on their use before play. Additionally, an Open Door policy is active. Players can take a break at any time for any reason. Postgame: I will follow up with each player to check in and review the session, open to needs, criticisms, or advice for future games.
