About the adventure

It is a period of Civil War. Fight with the Rebel Alliance to restore freedom and justice to the galaxy. The evil forces of the Empire have hounded the Rebellion, but even in the darkest hour, there is light. Star Wars - The Might of the Empire will be using the West End Games Star Wars Roleplaying Game, 2nd edition. It will take place during the height of the Galactic Civil war, i.e. the period in between the films "The Empire Strikes Back" and "The Return of the Jedi." While the primary adversaries will be The Empire, it is possible characters will be required to venture into Hutt Space or deal with the Corporate Sector Authority. The plot will not revolve around The Force or Jedi/Sith mysticism, but this being Star Wars, that doesn't mean Force users won't appear, they just won't be the focus of the game. If blasting stormtroopers, infiltrating Imperial facilities, and thwarting the plans of crime lords and local Moffs sounds like your cup of caf, then join me and fight against The Might of the Empire.

About me

Hi, I'm Hans! I'm a fantasy/sci-fi author, voice & stage actor, and game enthusiast. I've done freelance work for Rite Publishing and AAW Games, and served as the ENnie Awards Submission Coordinator from 2009-2019, and an ENnie Awards Judge for the 2025-2026 season. I've been playing tabletop games since 1982, starting with the Moldvay-revision Basic set of Dungeons & Dragons. Since then I've play and run more games than I can count. While D&D is my first love, I consider WEG's Star Wars d6 (2nd edition) my all-time favorite game and I've recently really been enjoying delving into Daggerheart.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen during Session Zero. Any official West End Games materials for the Star Wars RPG 2nd edition are fair game. Think about what made you join the Rebellion. This game will literally start during the Blizzard Force assault on Echo Base during The Empire Strikes Back, so keep that in mind when you consider what got you involved in the war. Star Wars - The Might of the Empire will take placed in the time between Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back and Episode VI - The Return of the Jedi. As such, Force users will be self-trained and any overt use of the Force may draw unwanted attention from Imperial Inquisitors or Darth Vader himself. That being said, any and all Force abilities will be available per the rules, I just want you to keep in mind the time frame of the game and what the consequences might be for using them.

The current party

We have not made characters yet, so I cannot give any information on party markup at this time.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account. Foundry runs locally on my machine, so you will only need to log in with your browser using a link I provide. It will be helpful if you have a copy of the Star Wars d6 rules, either the 2nd edition, the 2nd edition revised, or the 2nd edition revised updated and expanded (2e REUP).

What Hans brings to the table

There will be opening text crawls for every game, some music (depending on how the Internet behaves), as many voices as I can handle, and fast action fighting the Empire. I generally stick the rules, though I'm not opposed to bending them in the name of a good time and keeping things moving.

Homebrew rules

I'm not planning on using any homebrew rules at this point.

How Hans creates a safe table

I have the X card installed in Foundry. I will send out Monte Cook Games's RPG Consent Checklist at or prior to Session Zero, and will always use Open Door practices.
