About the adventure

The World is Drowning in Paranoia. Someone is Holding the Anchor. We live in an era of unprecedented connectivity, yet we have never been more afraid. Turn on the news, scroll through social media, or listen to late-night talk radio, and the message is identical: They are coming for you. Do not trust your neighbors. Do not trust your eyes. Most people dismiss it as internet madness. As Hunters, you know better. You know monsters are real, and human panic is an open invitation for things that bump in the night. But this time, the panic feels systematic. Welcome to The Feedback Loop. Your Place in the Machine You aren't a squad of seasoned soldiers or legendary heroes. You are an ordinary group of people—a local investigator following a trail that doesn't make sense, a tech-savvy researcher looking at data that shouldn't exist, a survivalist watching the grid blink, or a citizen who simply saw the truth and refused to look away. In this asynchronous Hunter: The Reckoning (5th Edition) chronicle, your Cell will plunge headfirst into a labyrinth of modern terror, media manipulation, and weaponized hysteria. Your journey starts small: a strange death linked to an online fringe group. But as you pull at the threads, you will find yourselves doing the gritty, terrifying work of true Hunters. You will be: Decrypting files and following the money through corrupted corporate networks. Interrogating zealots and navigating hostile internet trolls who weaponize misinformation against you. Staking out dark industrial districts and infiltrating secure facilities where human lives are being treated as currency. Fleeing across a paranoid, locked-down country as a fugitive from the very systems meant to protect you. Every monster you face and every cover-up you expose is just another gear in a much larger apparatus. You aren't just fighting things in the shadows anymore; you are fighting the system that keeps the world looking the other way. What to Expect & Storyteller Cadence Asynchronous Storytelling: Designed for busy schedules. I will post 1 to 2 narrative updates per day, Monday through Friday, to keep the plot moving. On Saturdays and Sundays, the pace slows down to 1 to 2 updates across the entire weekend. Gated Story Beats: Instead of waiting on a traditional turn order which stalls games for weeks, scenes will advance based on a 24-to-48-hour real-time response window. You can comfortably fit your daily posts into your own schedule. Atmospheric Horror: A gritty game of sacrifice and psychological tension. Channeling the energy of The X-Files and True Detective, you must balance your Drive to save humanity with the shattering reality of what you witness. Can you stop the rot before the paranoia consumes you, too?

About me

Hello and welcome! My name is Adam, and I have been crafting immersive, collaborative worlds for players since 1999. With over 25 years of experience behind the screen, my goal is always to deliver an inclusive, thrilling, and seamless gaming experience for veterans and beginners alike. My journey began in the crunch and neon of Shadowrun 3rd Edition, moving quickly into the tactical fantasy of Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition. In 2001, I discovered my deep passion for narrative-heavy storytelling through the World of Darkness universe. Over the years, I have successfully run campaigns across Hunter: The Reckoning, Vampire, and Werewolf through multiple generational shifts—from the classic Revised eras and the innovative Chronicles of Darkness line (Requiem and Forsaken), all the way up to the modern World of Darkness 5th Edition (W5/V5/H5) systems. Beyond traditional tabletop formats, my background includes years of organizing and running immersive Live Action Roleplay (LARP) events, as well as diving deep into post-apocalyptic settings like Dystopia Rising: Evolution. Whether you are looking to hunt monsters, navigate dark political intrigue, or survive the apocalypse, I can't wait to tell an unforgettable story with you.

Homebrew rules

Chronicle Tenets vs. Safety Tools Chronicle Tenets are separate from Safety Tools. Safety Tools protect players. Tenets act as the world's moral compass, binding PCs and NPCs alike. Violating a Tenet triggers an immediate consequence: the Chronicle Danger Rating increases. This persistent rating impacts the entire narrative and will not reset between stories. Every choice leaves a permanent scar. Chronicle Tenets Shield the Innocent: The innocent are not tools, collateral, or currency. Protect them from harm—physical, psychological, and supernatural. Never use them as bait or drag them into the shadows prematurely. Keep them safely unaware… or safely alive. Keep the Hunt Clean; Leave No Needless Ruin: The Hunt is precise, not wanton. Do not damage property or people outside your quarry. Avoid reckless actions that harm bystanders. The monster is your target—do not let chaos become your calling card. Do Not Let Hate Claim What Mercy Could Save: Grant mercy when earned and offered sincerely. It means a genuine chance at redemption—or a swift, honorable end. Do not allow rage or cruelty to turn you into the thing you stand against. Touchstones & Recuperation Hunters fully refresh Willpower during downtime between stories by interacting with their Touchstones. If a character lacks Touchstones, they cannot fully heal mental fatigue. They only recover Willpower equal to the highest of their Resolve or Composure rating (matching the mid-story session mechanic). Protect your humanity, or watch your resolve crumble. Alternative Progression (Milestone System) We use a milestone system instead of XP to keep pacing fast and cinematic: Once Per Session: Increase one dot in a Skill, Attribute, Background, or Merit, OR select a new perk for an existing Edge. End of a Story: Select a new Edge. Note: Log advancements on the attached Advancement Sheet. Cinematic Combat & Conflict Conflicts utilize these fast-paced options from the Hunter core book: Three Turns and Out (p. 120): After three rounds of violence, the scene resolves based on current momentum. One-Roll Combat: Minor skirmishes may resolve with a single, high-stakes roll. Turn Order & Initiative (p. 120): We bypass traditional initiative. Turn timing is determined dynamically by intent and positioning. Winning at a cost: At times a failed roll might not result in a failure. At the ST desertion a success can come from a failed roll, but the character taking on a consequent that can be but not limited to taking superficial/or aggravated Willpower to Health damage.
