About the adventure

Welcome to the world of Krynn! This game takes place in a time period I like to call Post-Post Apocalyptic. A massive and devastating event known as the Cataclysm rocked the people of this world. Cities fell, people were lost, and massive chunks of history was forgotten. The campaign picks up about 350 years after the events of the Cataclysm and the world is starting to heal. The city of Kalaman has become a bastion of civilization but whispers of armies gathering in the south keep people on edge. You will be the heroes of this story. Protectors of good and fighters of all things evil. Your characters will be thrust into action at every opportunity but can you do it all? This game will ask you to make some tough decisions. What's the priority? Who do I save? Do I have enough time? I am aiming for a somewhat serious tone. This should be a campaign that is taken seriously. I have a tendency to get a bit silly/goofy in smaller moments but the overall idea is to tell a story about overcoming great evil. This vibe will be better explained in a session 0.

About me

I've been playing DnD since 2018 and I started DMing in 2020. I also have experience in other systems such as Beam Saber and Lancer but I typically run games in DnD (2014 and 2024). My goal is for everyone to have a great time at my table.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will be starting at level 2 and be using the 5e 2024 rules. You may also choose 1 additional feat. In 2024 you gain a feat based on the background you choose. The additional feat can come from any source from the core rules. Don't feel the need to come to session 0 with a character already made. You may choose to use Standard Array or Rolled stats. IMPORTANT CHARACTER INFO: You must know an individual named "Ispin Greenshield". He is a local folk Hero that is known around the region. At some point in your character's life you met Ispin. Did you go on an adventure? Did he save you? Was he just a silly old man you met? This should be a person you haven't seen in a while. Your character receives a letter of Ispin's passing and are invited to the funeral. The letter is as follows: "Dear Friend, I am Becklin Uth Viharin. I've heard much about you from out mutual friend, Ispin Greenshield. It grieves me to share the news that our dear friend Ispin passed away peacefully here at his home in Vogler. May fortune and the old gods protect his soul. Ispin's friends are holding a memorial for him in the manner he always wanted. It will take place here in Vogler on the eve of the Kingfisher Festival I write to ask you to do Ispin one last honor and attend. Should you come, accomidations will be available at the Brass Crab. Though the circumstances are sad, I am egar to meet you and, through out memories, to reveal in the life of our great friend. -Becklin Uth Viharin Knight of the Crown"

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using Roll20 to make character sheets and roll dice. I have a Discord for voice chat. Making a Roll20 account is completely free as well as Discord.

What Gregory Walsh brings to the table

I am not a professional voice actors but I will try my best to do voices for certain characters to build immersion. The is a music bot in my discord for anyone to queue up music. I try to put playlists tied to the session tone. As stated in my bio I am a Rules of Cool Laywer. I stick pretty close to rules as written but I also acknowledge that some rules are lame so depending on the moment I will hand wave things. Any tweeks to the module will be minor and solely to make the game run smoother. The combat is fairly simple at times but don't be surprised when you come across something you're not meant to fight.

Homebrew rules

Drinking a potion is a bonus action BUT administering a potion to someone else counts as an action.

Safety

How Gregory Walsh creates a safe table

In session 0 a big talking point will be the types of content we are all okay with, what we don't like to see, and what is banned at the table. I am always available to revisit things that happen at the table if they become uncomfortable. This will be an ongoing conversation. After every session I typically sit around on VC to talk about the session. Whether to hype up a cool moment or to gauge enjoyment and comfort level. At any point during a session if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe please voice it. Things can get intense when playing DnD, it is okay to leave or mute or deafen in order to calm down. Cameras don't need to be on during the session.
