About the adventure

Dark Harvest is a 5th Edition D&D adventure that sees the players taking part in a Harvest Festival before stepping up to save the village from certain doom. The players find themselves in the small village of Aldergrove - there, a harvest celebration is taking place. The night starts out happily enough, but soon things turn awry as the festival is attacked by pumpkinfolk and other monstrosities. The players must race back to Aldergrove itself to seek out information about the attacks, and then head towards their source, defeating the evil creature behind it all.

About me

HELLO! I'm psyched to create a story with you. I've been running games, events, larps, and telling stories for over 20 years and I am always looking to spin more yarn. I usually introduce more than a dozen new players to the world of table top each year. I'm familiar with many systems, (some examples below) and I'm always eager to add to a system if the group wants something more unique. I like to capture the intimate details of a books while at the same time help my players feel like they are apart of a grand cinematic marvel! Rather high stakes intrigue or octane burning adrenaline, I want my games to live on not just at the table but in conversations you have with your friends and family. Examples: D&D (all editions and many homebrews made by famous youtubers like XP to Level 3, DnD Shorts, Pointy Hat, and many others), World of Darkness (all editions), Sentinels RPG, Shadow Run (all editions), Savage Worlds, Call of Cthulhu/Delta Green, All the One Page RPGs, Fireborn, Path Finder, Star Finder, Conspiracy X, Dark Conspiracy, and many more.

Character creation

Creating your character

Players will be able to pick a pregenerated character or they may bring their own third level character that they create. If players choose to bring their own character, the stats must be generated by either standard array or point buy. Any species, class, subclass, and spells must come from a book that is published.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players need to have a good mic, internet connection, Discord account, and have a Roll20 account. A decent webcam is highly encouraged, but is ultimately optional.

What DragonsGM brings to the table

I will be bringing all human made art and music, extensive digital and physical resources from 2 decades of storytelling that include an insanely massive library of content, a large number of compendiums that make running modules and stories on roll20 work smoothly, and enough spooky vibes to share with the entire table!

Homebrew rules

All Homebrew rules are optional and the players can choose to ignore any of these rules. Criticals: When a PC scores a critical hit, they roll their damage dice twice but they also maximize of one die (per damage type/source). Death Saves: Death saving throws are done privately by me. Health Potions: It is a bonus action to swig a health potion or you can take a full action to drink the potion and gain the max amount of health back. Tasha’s Hideous Laughter or Vicious Mockery: If your joke/insult makes me laugh, the target gets no saving throw and automatically fails!

Safety

How DragonsGM creates a safe table

The Safety Tool I use for this game are the content warnings in the same way that movies use their rating system. The warnings, warn you of what you might encounter in this game specifically. Other wise, if it is not in the content warnings, I will not be bringing in my game and I will require my players to also refraim from bringing that sort of content into my game as well. Essentially, don't be a dick. In short, this game is rated R for swearing and summer block buster style descriptive violence. (I of course also use an open door policy and use lines and veils as it is also better to be safe than sorry as I only want my games to be fun.)
