About the adventure
Crooked Moon is a folk horror setting that I have filled out a bit with some of my Appalachian inspiration. I find it to be a spiritual successor to Curse of Strahd, so those that have played or DMed a CoS campaign will feel right at home. But you don’t have to be an experienced player to enjoy Crooked Moon. If you come into the game with a love of horror, mystery, and roleplay, you’re going to have a great time. The setting and themes of Crooked Moon can be quite dark, but there is enough levity in the campaign that some tables make it into more of a comedy-horror than traditional folk horror. Whether your table prefers a darker mood or a laugh at the end of the day, this campaign is for you!

About me
My name is Bee, and I am a professional Storykeeper (DM/GM) with a passion for weaving intricate tales and crafting fun experiences for players of all ages. With over seven years of experience DMing tabletop RPGs, I have honed my skills to provide an enjoyable experience for all, whether you’re a tabletop veteran or a newbie. My ultimate goal is to create a fun, safe environment where all players feel welcome! Bigotry of any kind is NOT allowed at my table, and inclusivity is encouraged. I can guide you through any setting that ignites your imagination, but I am partial to horror and fantasy.

Creating your character
We will collaborate on characters, to a point, but ultimately it will be your responsibility to create a character that is enjoyable to play with. Character ideas will be discussed during Session 0 and will be finished by Session 1. Point-buy for stats, starting at level 3.

What Bee brings to the table
I use Kenku FM for all music/sound effects. I also have a solid understanding of the rules, which gives me the ability to play fast and loose with them if it will be narratively satisfying.
Homebrew rules
Damage, when halved, is rounded down against PCs but rounded up against monsters. For critical hits against monsters, the first set of dice are automatically maxed out; only the second set gets rolled. Nat 1s are critical fails, even on skill checks. Same applies to Nat 20s. "Rolling to seduce" is not possible without roleplay to back it up. And even with a Nat 20 - no means no. Health potions can be consumed on a bonus action or an action yourself. If a health potion has to be fed to you or to someone else, it is an action. All other types of potions take actions to drink. Nat 20 in initiative means you get an extra action that round. Death can be strange in this campaign, for what happens when the dead die? I will have alternate options to death, if/when it comes to that. However, having a backup character in your pocket is always a good idea. A player can have more than 1 point of Inspiration, but they reset to 0 after every session.

How Bee creates a safe table
I have a consent checklist that everyone will fill out before Session 0. During Session 0 we will cover any topics that need to be banned or lightly censored. We will have a warm up and cool down chat every session to make sure everyone is having fun and nothing gets swept under the rug.
