About the adventure

*** NEWCOMERS WELCOME *** NOTE: For billing purposes, one StartPlaying “session” represents one week of asynchronous play-by-post, Monday through Friday. There is no scheduled one-hour live session. ----------------------------------------------- A case has become available. The details are presently unclear. This is not unusual. Elsewhere Dispatch is a private, one-on-one play-by-post campaign built around your character and the kind of adventure you want to experience. Like Fantasy? We can do that, easy: “We agreed on four hundred chunkoo, human.” The goblin merchant's ears flatten. Behind him, half a dozen of his kin bristle with spear points and muttered expletives—at least, you assume they're expletives. “You cheat us? HEH?!” Maybe you like chrome and hate corpos? Cyberpunk... oh yeah. The Intracorp 45-9 feels familiar in your hand as you establish your grip. The training. Always the training. Sight. Acquire. Fire. The Intelli-sight helps, too. The team following you may regret taking this contract after all. Or perhaps you like the simple pleasures of the unknown: The transmission has repeated every eleven minutes for the past seventy-three years. Tonight, it changed. Science fiction? Horror? Both? You tell me. We'll choose the genre, tone, and character together. From there, I'll create the opening situation and we'll discover where your decisions take us. There is no predetermined storyline you're expected to uncover and no party whose plans take precedence over your own. I present a world filled with people, places, mysteries, dangers, and opportunities. You decide what matters and what your character does about it. Clever plans are encouraged. Unexpected solutions are welcome. Plans beginning with “This might be a terrible idea, but...” are something of a specialty. Play is asynchronous throughout the week. There's no three-hour session to schedule and no need for us to be online simultaneously. TinyD6 keeps the mechanics light: tell me what your character wants to do, and we'll reach for the dice when the outcome is uncertain. New to RPGs? You're welcome here. You don't need to know TinyD6—or memorize a rulebook—before we begin. Expect clear written narration, roleplay, exploration, meaningful choices, maps and handouts when useful, and occasional atmospheric touches. Your case is waiting. — ED-07 // Dispatcher ----------------------------------------------- NOTE: For billing purposes, one StartPlaying “session” represents one week of asynchronous play-by-post, Monday through Friday. About me

I got my start with tabletop RPGs in the 1980s with D&D Basic and Expert, eventually moving into BECMI. After a long break, I returned to the hobby around 2015 with D&D 5e. While deployed, I began running D&D Adventurers League modules through play-by-post. That taught me a great deal about asynchronous GMing: presenting information clearly, maintaining continuity, tracking what players know, and keeping a game moving without rushing it. I even developed a simple coordinate system for tactical maps so players could communicate movement and positioning clearly. Over time, I found myself drawn toward rules-light games such as TinyD6, where mechanics support the adventure without getting in its way. My GM style reflects my old-school roots. I like worlds that present situations rather than predetermined solutions. I'm more interested in what your character wants to attempt than whether we can find exactly which rule covers it. Exploration, creative problem-solving, meaningful choices, and player agency are what I enjoy most. I especially enjoy rules-light and play-by-post gaming, and I love bringing fictional worlds to life with maps, handouts, physical props, and occasional 3D-printed artifacts.

Character creation

Creating your character

We'll create your character together before play begins—or, if you'd prefer, discover them through play. Traditional character creation is quick with TinyD6: we'll begin with the person you'd like to play and translate that concept into the rules together. For something different, you can start with an intentionally incomplete character. We'll establish the things you know for certain and leave some abilities, talents, relationships, and history undefined. As situations arise during play, those details can reveal themselves naturally through your choices. Either way, start with a living concept, not a character sheet. You don't need to know TinyD6 or purchase a rulebook before we begin.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need a StartPlaying account and access to Discord. After booking, you'll receive access to your private case area on the Elsewhere Dispatch Discord server. Before we begin, we'll establish your preferred genre and tone, discuss your character concept, complete our safety/boundaries setup, and make sure we're both clear about the play-by-post format. You don't need to learn TinyD6 beforehand. Bring a character idea, some curiosity, and a willingness to make decisions. During active play, aim for at least one meaningful response each weekday when your character has something to contribute. If you've read a scene and have nothing to add, posting "..." tells me you're ready for events to move forward. Weekends are off.

What Elsewhere brings to the table

I'll provide a private, player-driven campaign built around your character and the choices you make. Expect clear written narration, distinct NPCs, exploration, mysteries, meaningful consequences, and situations with problems rather than predetermined solutions. I'll keep track of continuity, locations, characters, and what your character knows so that you can concentrate on playing. Your private Discord "case" area will organize important information as the campaign develops, including character information, case notes, maps, evidence, NPCs, and other useful references. When they add something worthwhile, I may also provide maps, handouts, illustrations, atmospheric music, in-world documents, or other case materials. My approach to rules is simple: they're guard rails. That doesn't mean we can't pull over and go for a walk. Tell me what you want your character to attempt; we'll figure out the mechanics when we need them.

Homebrew rules

TinyD6 is deliberately rules-light, and I favor situational rulings that preserve player agency and keep play moving. Any campaign-specific rules or modifications will be discussed with you before they are introduced.
