About the adventure
Osairen, a once flourishing world ruled and protected by a group of elite dragonslayers, has spent the last nearly 200 years languishing under the tyranny of the ancient time dragon Dialzrum, who has come to be known as the Chrono-King. Since his arrival he has slaughtered the legendary dragonslayers, enslaved the populations of Osairen's largest cities, and gained a loyal following of deranged cultists, and built up an order of chronomancers that enforce his will across the landscape. All attempts to overthrow this despot have failed miserably - or at the very least, the ones you know about. How many must have fallen to a creature whose mastery of time is strong enough to wipe out entire existences to preserve his supremacy? Is it for this reason that the Obscuran Collective was formed - an initiative to thwart the Chrono-King through stealth. If he cannot pin down the time and place of his defeats or unmake his foes, you may finally stand a chance of dethroning him. As a group of Osairen's strongest heroes, the Consortium believes you to be the ideal candidates to end his reign of terror. Do you have what it takes to dig up ancient secrets, face off against the Chrono-King's followers, discover his weaknesses, and become this world's new age of dragonslayers all while protecting your own anonymity?

About me
Hello Everyone! My name is Josh (He/Him), but when it comes to D&D things I tend to go to by Inferno. Please feel free to refer to me by either! My timezone is EST, though I will soon be moving to PST long-term. I've been playing and running D&D games for about the last four years! A lover of both in-depth lore and fierce combat, I've been addicted to the Dungeons and Dragons 2014 system ever since for its amazing storytelling capabilities and endless versatility. I'm also a newer adoptee and fan of more rules-lite systems, especially Daggerheart. I'm committed to providing a challenging and entertaining experience for all who play at my table! I'm always building new homebrew settings. I love running classic High Fantasy games (with a twist of course), though I draw inspiration from dark fantasy. steampunk/high-tech, and occasionally horror settings in writing my stories depending on what inspiration strikes me. I love to have my players actively shape the setting I'm working on, adding NPCs and locations to my framework as their work out their backstories! My players are as much the architects of my worlds as I am.

Creating your character
Characters will be made in a D&D Beyond you will be given access to and then I will export them to Alchemy. We will discuss characters during Session 0 and any possible connections between party members, but players should come with some ideas of what they would like to play! Here are the guidelines: - This campaign uses the 2014 5e rules. All 2024 content is not allowed. All official 2014 content is allowed (multiclassing, optional class features, etc.). See below for a few exceptions - Characters start at Level 11 and will end at Level 17. Level-Ups are done by Milestone. - Stats are determined using Point Buy. Hit points use the fixed value - Backgrounds that provide a starting feat are allowed, as are backgrounds such as the Ravnica backgrounds that expand a spell list. If your background does neither of these things, you may pick one of the following feats to start with: Alert, Skilled, Tough, Martial Adept, Elemental Adept, Magic Initiate, or Artificer Initiate -All players start with their class's starting equipment, 6.5k Gold, and a potion of Superior Healing. You may spend this gold on equipment upgrades using the standard equipment prices or buy spell components as needed. There will also be chances to spend it in-game - All players also start with one Uncommon and one Rare magical item of their choice. Exact choices are subject to DM approval - The spells Dream of the Blue Veil and Simulacrum are banned. Wish is allowed but be very careful with your wording! - Players are always welcome to reach out to me for help with character creation!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
For this game, you should have: -A laptop or computer with a working microphone. Video is entirely optional at my table. -A Discord Account -A free Alchemy account. If you have not previously used Alchemy, I will go over it during Session 0! -A free D&D Beyond Account -General ideas for a backup character. This campaign can be highly deadly, and characters may be in incredible danger if caution is not taken in certain moments. A fully fleshed out idea or mechanics are by no means necessary
What Inferno brings to the table
Here are a few of the things I provide as a DM: -D&D Beyond Content Sharing (PHB, DMG, TCoE, XGTE, MMoM races, and a variety of assorted subclasses, spells, and races from FtoD, EGtW, and other sources). If there is anything you want that I don't have, let me know and I will get it for you! - High-quality battle maps and RP scene backgrounds - Custom handouts for lore, magic items, and more! -Background music, character voices, and any other tools needed to maximize your immersion into this world! For this campaign, I will also be providing a primer on the setting. This contains a basic overview of the setting's most important places, characters, and past events. Please feel free to reach out to me when building your character - I'm more than happy to provide additional information on things certain classes like Clerics and Warlocks may need and want to workshop new additions with each of my players to make your characters feel at home in this world! As a DM, I tend to stick to RAW, except in cases like mounted combat when RAW is very unclear. I find this to be the fairest approach, especially in a campaign that will err on the deadlier side of things. However, I am always open to creative but reasonable solutions and love to see players use their spells and abilities in unique ways!
Homebrew rules
I use the following homebrew rules: - Drinking a healing potion of any rarity yourself is a bonus action, but feeding one to others is an action. Other potions are an action to use - Silvery Barbs and similar features can only be used on a given roll once. If a PC or enemy succeeds on a roll, is hit by Silvery Barbs, and succeeds again, a second caster cannot target them again for that roll - Death saves are rolled privately between the player who is down and the DM - Critical successes and critical failures succeed and fail within the bounds of reason whenever rolled, not just on attack rolls

How Inferno creates a safe table
Once you join the game, I will give you access to a D&D Beyond Campaign and a Discord server. An Alchemy link will be provided before Session 0. Alchemy has a built-in voice chat, which we will use with Discord as a backup. The Discord server will contain all the information about character creation, channels for important lore and loot, and a chat for all of the players. I have listed on this post a wide array of possible content warnings for the game, but during Session 0, I will go through the ones that will play the biggest role in this campaign. As I go through each item, players will have an opportunity to let me know privately if that particular topic is a Line or Veil. After Session 0, I will publish a full list of Lines and Veils for our campaign, unless anyone wishes to keep a particular boundary private. Alchemy has a build in X-Card function, which will send an anonymous notification to me. I will then pause the game if needed, and we can discuss next steps from there. Each session will also contain at least one break, usually for 10 minutes about halfway through the session. The Discord will also contain a Stars and Wishes channel, where you can post anything you particularly enjoyed about a session or anything you wish to see/see change in upcoming ones. My DMs on Discord will also always be open to discuss any safety/comfort concerns at any time
