About the adventure

Ember is an original fantasy world, and it is nothing like the ones you already know. There are no other planes, no parallel dimensions — the cosmos is a single sealed bubble called the Weave, with the living world of Eiru at its center and something patient and hostile pressing in from outside. Six elemental moons track overhead in real game time. Hundreds of ascended Shard Gods walk among mortals, fallible and scheming, while five Elder Gods hold the balance. Two and a half thousand years ago the Sun Tower of the Aedir exploded, annihilated a continent, cracked one of the moons, and let horror pour into the world for the very first time. People are still living in the wreckage of that mistake. Your story starts on a merchant road heading east across the Arctus Plateau toward Ordain — a metropolis of white stone and red rooftops, half a million people, run by a fragile alliance of sages, trading houses, and the city's shadowy investigative arm. When and how you arrive there will be entirely up to you and your crew as you travel across literal thousands of hexes and hundreds of discoverable locations. Time passes with every mile, and some quests branch on how fast you got there, so "let's take the safe route" is a real decision with real cost. Encounters play out on illustrated maps with interactive traps, puzzles, and dynamic lighting, or in first-person scenes where NPCs step out of a painted backdrop to talk to you. Everything you find, fight, meet, and decide gets written into your Codex (Foundrys' online Journal) automatically. You'll build a character unlike anything you've made before. Sixteen Unique ancestries, eight cultures, and twenty-two backstory paths feed into the Crucible Foundry VTT Created Classless system. Play how you want and create a character tailored exactly how you wish to play. Crucible & Ember work hand in hand and you'll be able to create your own Beautiful Custom Animated Token Designed however you wish! Who this game is for. You're curious about a world nobody has mapped yet and you'd rather be early than safe. You like exploration and roleplay as much as combat, and you're comfortable with a table that talks, plans, and argues about which way to go. Fair warning, said plainly: both Ember and Crucible are in active development, encounters can swing unbalanced, and I'm learning this world right alongside you so that take that with a grain of salt. Which honestly means nobody at the table gets to be the rules lawyer, and we all discover it together. I run a collaborative, character forward game with a Session Zero for each player, and real consequences for the choices you make. If something isn't working or your character needs a change this game is an experimental one and one I happily want to make work in everyones favor. Try out different builds and see what works and what doesn't. No books to buy, no prep required. Bring a concept and a reason to be on the Strayhearth caravan and your sense of adventure!

Character creation

Creating your character

We have to create characters inside of Foundry Virtual Tabletop. So we will Create them together on Foundry during our Session Zero going over the rules for the Crucible System and any questions you certainly will have. You will have an indefinite amount of time to craft as much as you wish to your hearts desire.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You'll need access to Fast internet and I would say, quite a Decent PC Build. Ember is currently Foundry's Biggest development for Production and it pushes a ton of Features, Art and Assets so the better your PC the better experience you will have with Foundry and Ember. I require the use of Discord for Voice/Video so I only ask that you play in a quiet environment so as not to disrupt the session with unnecessary background noise. Or if it is a bit noisy just use Push to Talk Whatever is better for you. You can join the discord here at your own Liesure just make sure to message me or DM me with any relevant information. https://discord.gg/2jaZ7UFzaC Or add me as a Friend LiquidSn8ke

What Nick (LiquidSn8ke) brings to the table

My DM Style is a good mixture of Exploration, RP, and Combat across the board in my games, but I do tend to lean on RP more than the other's. I love doing character voices and interacting with the players. Communication has always been my #1 rule so if you have something to say please say it going forward don't be afraid to speak up or let me know after the session if you're uncomfortable at the table! I have always been a Rule of Cool DM first and foremost, but I try to adhere to the RAW (Rules as Written), but if you wanna try rolling for something outside the box then let's go for it!

Homebrew rules

None so far that I have, but as we play we may develop some as the campaign progresses and we see what might work or what might not.

Safety

How Nick (LiquidSn8ke) creates a safe table

During Session 0 I like to bring everyone together on Discord so we can discuss safety, etiquette, tone and history/story for the game as described in the players guide that you'll read over as everything is held within Foundry itself. Unfortunately there is no PDF for Ember at the moment. I will also work with you to incorporate character creation and background story into the setting of the World of Ember. If you have any lines or veils we can speak about them during Session Zero. Session Zero is also where we will all meet up on the discord server and discuss character ideas, backgrounds, lore, rules for Ember and it's Settings or any other questions you may have. I'll try to help you as much as the knowledge I'm currently aware of at the time and if I don't have the answer for you at the moment I can guarantee by next session I will get one. If you've never played on Foundry Virtual Table Top before I'll also go over a basic's guide of how to use it and teach you slowly as it will be our main source of what Ember is meant to run on.
