About the adventure
The sun is setting in the town of Holzapfelkreuth which means that the usual band of misfits, outcasts, and creeps has gathered in The Alehouse by the Old Gallows, commonly known as just 'The Gallows'. These people are a diverse group, which makes them stand out from most other drinking groups. But Dieter, the owner, taverner, and ale taster doesn't mind them because they drink well and pay well. The game will start at that evening, where these drinking buddies have met up and are enjoying their well-earned ale and enjoying the not so fine cuisine of The Gallows. While they're there, disaster strikes and these unlikely sorts will have to be the heroes that Holzapfelkreuth needs, even if it deserves better. This leads our merry band into an investigation of the most horrible crimes imaginable and they will have to fight the forces of darkness, risking life, limb, and everything they hold dear. Although this is a one-shot, it will be a complete adventure that I previously ran at conventions and with friends. It should be suitable for all levels of experience, from someone who has only ever heard the name of the game to someone who knows the exact geography of the Reikland and can tell us who all of the Electors are.

About me
Hi! I'm Dirk and I've been GM-ing for around twenty-five years by now and like to think that I've gotten fairly good at it. Like many people, I started playing Dungeons and Dragons (3.0 back then. Just in time for the complains about 3.5. Yes, edition wars are that old). Fairly quickly, I found that some stories are better told with other systems and so, I built up a slightly oversized collection of books and experience with a plethora of systems. I've ran games for groups of friends and also like to run games at conventions and the like. I find that every story should be tailored to the people at the table, whether it's virtual or an actual one. Aside from games, I enjoy painting miniatures, literature, and, of course, cooking and baking. Those however are a little less relevant for online gaming.

Creating your character
We will use pre-generated characters that I'll prepare. I'll be offering a bunch of concepts that the players can choose from. Normally, I would go for generating the stats normally, but because it's a one-shot, it would be a waste to spend half the time on just making the characters.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
We will be playing on a special-made Discord server that also includes a dice roller and where we can share all necessary information, from character sheets to extra rules and backstory elements.
What Dirk brings to the table
The core of this game will be solving what troubles Holzapfelkreuth and, of course, to deal with the source of this evil. We will mostly be going with the rule of cool and there will, in all likelihood, be some gruesome injuries. We will mostly use the rules but there are some bits and pieces where we might deviate from them because it is more fitting. A big focus will be on investigation, which includes talking to a diverse array of NPCs. There will also be exploration, and, of course, violence. That said, because it is Warhammer Fantasy, violence is a bit more of a risky approach than it is in many other games.
Homebrew rules
It's not necessarily homebrew, but we will be using the second edition rules because those are the ones that I know best. One other homebrew rule that I often use is that a player can get a bonus to a roll in combat (or another threatening situation like jumping between buildings), when using a good one-liner. To be judged by the other players of course.

How Dirk creates a safe table
We will discuss in advance whether there are any topics that are to be avoided or treaded lightly around. We will also use X-cards to immediately stop anything that moves into an unwanted direction.
