About the adventure
The future is uncertain. Your sanctuary that you've known your entire life is in danger. You have been tasked with traveling across the continent searching for fragments of the goddess who protected generations of your family and friends. But beware - agents of rival gods seek to stop you at all costs! Will you complete your journey and resurrect the goddess? Or will creatures and beings wreathed in shadow consume you on your Journey to Horizon? Welcome to Journey To Horizon, a hexcrawl-style campaign that will take you across the continent and ultimately to the goddess's final resting place. The touchstones for this campaign frame range from THE LORD OF THE RINGS and THE LEGEND OF ZELDA to FALLOUT and FINAL FANTASY VII. Similarly, your characters should feel like heroes who understand the importance of their task, but not lose sight of those they are protecting. The land you are traversing will be highly magical - floating islands, deep desert valleys, and shadow-touched wastelands - but you get to choose which direction you move and what dangers you are willing to face in your journey. In the hundreds of years since the death of the goddess, the land has changed. Every step you take will be new and exciting. You will also not be traveling through an empty world - there are other sanctuaries that survived, travelers through the uncharted land and obstacles to fight or befriend. The future of this land is in your hands. However, time is ticking. The longer your journey, the more likely that rival agents will find you and stop you from collecting the essential fragments needed to complete your task. And they may be hiding in the most unlikely of places. This campaign needs adventurers - those willing to brave the dangers of an unknown land - but will have plenty of time for the party to grow closer, help other settlements in need and fight back the darkness that threatens the land. So, who's ready for an adventure?

About me
Looking for the low-level to high-level campaign that you've never been able to complete? Hi! My name is Eli and I'm a professional dungeon master. I run long-term campaigns with a heavy emphasis on roleplay and challenging combat. I like games where you really get to know your character and the world around you, but also feel powerful and engaged when swords flash and magic erupts. My preferred system is Pathfinder 2e, but most of my experience is with Pathfinder 1e and D&D 5th edition. I currently live in South Carolina, USA. I also put a focus on memorable NPCs -- people with distinctive voices built by their background and worldview. That goes double for antagonists; you will love to hate the enemies that stand in your way. But the game is about your characters. Every game that I GM should feel like the characters already live in the world and their background has affected how the world reacts to them. Even in pre-published adventures, your character changes everything. And I always place player enjoyment first. This is your game: you should feel empowered, included and accepted no matter who you are. So, what do you say? Want to go on an adventure?

Creating your character
Character creation will happen during session zero with everyone at the table. In this campaign, your characters will have all grown up in the same sanctuary with little more than rumors of what awaits them in the outside world. In addition, because this land is highly magical, all players will help define your sanctuary based on the characters you build. For example, if you choose to play a Duneborne Warlock, your sanctuary will begin with a section for a desert based patron. The campaign begins at Level 1 and will extend to All options from Daggerheart Core and Daggerheart: Hope and Fear will be available. Any other 3rd party options will need to be approved by the GM.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
This campaign will take place entirely in Foundry VTT. Please make sure that you have a free account on Forge VTT in order to sign into the table. The link to the Foundry server will be available on Discord. For voice we will be using a Discord channel. You will be sent an invite to the Discord when you sign up for the game. If you do not already have a Discord account, please sign up.
What Elijah brings to the table
Daggerheart perfectly compliments my GM style. I tend to focus on making moments cinematic and personal to the characters. We may show wide vistas being traveled over days or focus in on intimate moments and personal struggles. Each session will be new and exciting. I also do character voices for NPCs, giving them life and purpose within the world. Players are not required to use character voices. During play I have a curated list of music and ambience that will be played from Tabletop RPG Music and Tabletop Audio. Scenic vistas shown on screen will be from various sources, none of them AI. Though most of the game will be played Theater of the Mind, there may be specific scenes with battle maps which will be made personally by me or specific maps from notable mapmakers (Czepeku, etc.). The hex map of this world will be a recreation of the Journey to Horizon map done by me in Wonderdraft. Players will be able to choose their own token art.
Homebrew rules
For the most part, we will be using base Daggerheart rules. There will likely be homebrew items depending on what characters you build and the world we build together.

How Elijah creates a safe table
The safety of my players will be of the utmost importance. Respect is the number one rule at my table. In addition, everyone will be made welcome at my table. Anyone who makes someone else feel unwanted at my table will be asked to leave. 🏳️🌈 During session zero, we will go over Lines and Veils to establish what people would like either removed or not focused upon. A list of these topics will be available in a document in Foundry for easy reference. In Foundry, we will have a clickable button for if anything arrives in the game that needs to be addressed. We will take a moment to address this privately and make whatever adjustments need to be made.
