About the adventure
Join an epic space opera set against the backdrop of Draw Steel mechanics. Discovered familiar races integrated seamlessly into an all custom setting--Malicia. This weekly Draw Steel campaign is custom made by yours truly, inspired by my favorite settings like Mass Effect, Dune, Star Trek, and the Expanse. Session content, NPCs, and lore are inspired by humans, made by a human, for you humans! AI tools are used for image generation, always disclosed, and never for writing! Verusia Colony is a heavy roleplay, heavy combat campaign focused on dramatic missions racing against larger than life threats to a new Terran colony. You'll join your fellow heroes in two platforms, on Discord and in the Draw Steel app on Steam. This campaign has carefully edited races, languages, skills and other rules to match the setting with fully functional representation in the Draw Steel VTT. Beginners are encouraged to join as the Draw Steel VTT makes learning the system a breeze. I'm so convinced you should try Draw Steel, that if you don't have the Draw Steel app yet and purchase it, your first session is free! Custom mechanics are kept to a minimum out of respect for MCDM's careful balance process. Much attention was paid to ensure those rare custom mechanics respect the design principles of Draw Steel. You can expected balanced, tough, and fair encounters. Hero death is not off the table, the void is unkind, you are a rare durable beacon of hope but your light is not inextinguishable. In this campaign you will experience a bespoke narrative, tabletop, and setting. Most importantly, you are the producer of your character's story, players can expect regular calls with the director and surveys after each session to indicate future hopes. Moreover, you'll have a chance to provide campaign direction input during our zero session. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, Draw Steel is amazingly fun but it can only happen if everyone at the table is cooperating. You can expect our table to be well vetted. I have years of experience coordinating small groups professionally and for D&D, you can trust me to keep your campaign drama free, always prioritizing player experience over monetary game. Which is to say, bad actors will not be tolerated.

About me
Looking to dive in for the first time? Or maybe you want a one of a kind session in a passion project world? Or if you're interested in tactical snappy combat then you should keep reading. Hi, I'm Zette, pleased to meet you. I cut my teeth like many a DM on Matt Colvile's 'Running the Game' series in 2017. Ever since that day I finally convinced some of my friends to play I've been the man behind the table for at least one session a month if not more. It wasn't long after starting my first campaign (which had six players and met weekly! CRAZY!) that I discovered I wanted more than what Hoard of the Dragon Queen was offering me. So I started writing my own story loosely based on the module and it was... rough. Thankfully I've had years of practice since and my writing has certainly improved. Tabletop RPGs have become a staple creative outlet for me in my life, an awesome chance to blend both my background in the arts and in technology. Speaking of, around 2019 I switched to entirely virtual. I had met many amazing players since I had started from all sorts of different places and so it only made sense to transition to the one venue that could support us all: the internet. We tooled around with several VTTs before discovering an awesome combination of D&D Beyond and Foundry VTT. As the tools and my DM'ing have continued to improve I have only grown in my love for the game and my desire to share my work with more players.

Creating your character
Your character will be level one to start, created in the Draw Steel app on Steam. You'll find there custom rules regarding races, cultures, languages, skills and more! Much of that information is also available on our wiki. There you can find a galactic map and ever growing information on the major players in the Eclid Galaxy. What to expect
Preparing for the session
You must join the discord server, you may mute every channel but the campaign specific channel. You are not expected or required to utilize the discord for anything beyond these purposes, but you are certainly welcome. You must have a working microphone and a suitably quiet environment to join the Discord voice channel during the regularly scheduled session time. You must have purchased the Draw Steel app (Codex) on Steam. It's 20 USD for a one time purchase which is a perpetual license, no subscriptions, thank the Nebula. If you have not purchased the app yet, you will have a chance to share proof of purchase, dated after the campaign start date, in exchange for your first session free!
What Nathan brings to the table
My greatest strength is my writing. Always human made, player focused, and richly detailed. I prepare furiously to ensure compelling session and campaign narratives. I work hard to ensure major NPCs are fun to interact with, whether they be friend or foe. If I had to declare a second strength, it'd be my technical expertise. Computer technician by day I've worked hard to ensure the custom campaign/setting content is easily accessed and functional from inside the Draw Steel app. Furthermore you can expect high quality human made assets during our sessions. Cze and Peku serve as my go-to cartographers. Pocket Bard provides our music and sound effects. Voices aren't my strong suit, but I produce those in house. Tokens are human made wherever possible, pulling from official art, Max Hamm, Cze&Peku and others. Tokens specifically are supplemented by AI art, if that's not your thing, no worries, but you've been forewarned. Combat encounters, negotiations, montages, and dialogues are hand written individualized for your party. You can expect, frequent, tough, and fair tactical combat each session. Lastly, you can expect monthly calls, 30 mins one-on-one to discuss your experience and to talk about future sessions. Additionally you have the option to fill out surveys after each session; things you wish would Stop happening, Start happening, or Continue happening. You can submit that feedback anonymously if you so wish.
Homebrew rules
Many rules, races, and skills are reskinned or reworked, but the mechanics are close to vanilla. Being so numerous, these changes, they have been compiled into a wiki for the setting, found at this link: https://www.legendkeeper.com/p/cmsqmvgb00vjf2xlpa5kmd3i7

How Nathan creates a safe table
Lines and Veils are configured and tracked from the Draw Steel app on Steam. Additions are made anonymously and you don't have to share your choices or the reason behind them. Topics which cross lines for our group are forbidden. However, you aren't required to disclose every line you have up front, and you may discover content which you are uncomfortable with during play. Additionally players and even the director may accidentally cross a line unknowingly. In that case, an option is available to you in the Draw Steel app to 'Tap the X-Card'. This lets me, the director, know that you have done so. No one else knows who pressed it. We will pause the scene, offering you a chance to indicate privately the source of your discomfort. Additionally you're offered a chance to provide feedback about things you wish to see avoided in future sessions via a survey after each session. Furthermore players are permitted a shared table break time once per session for ten minutes. We will discuss these tools during our zero session, which is free of charge. In this session I will make clear that any player is permitted to take a break from the session at any time, for any reason, without judgement and without need to provide reasoning. You only need to say 'BRB' or 'Be right back'. If you need to be gone for longer than 15 minutes or the rest of the session that is permitted, it's only requested you communicate that privately to the director. Finally, the director reserves the right to eject any hero who is negatively impacting the experience for the table from the session and even the campaign if needbe. Clear and repeated requests to improve behavior will precede this action if at all possible.
