About the adventure

Welcome to The Never Ending Dungeon, a massive, persistent D&D campaign built around one simple question: how far can you go? A mysterious 100-floor dungeon towers above the Town of Beginnings, with each floor offering new environments, monsters, treasures, mysteries, and challenges. Every expedition pushes deeper into the unknown, and the discoveries made by one group can change the world for everyone. This is a living, West Marches-style campaign where you are not locked into a weekly party or a single storyline. Create your adventurer, join expeditions when they fit your schedule, meet other players, earn powerful rewards, and build your character's reputation within the community. The dungeon is packed with combat, exploration, roleplay, puzzles, boss fights, and secrets waiting for someone to uncover them. The Never Ending Dungeon is perfect for players who love anime/games like Sword Art Online, Final Fantasy XIV, Solo Leveling, and .hack, or anyone who wants D&D to feel like a massive multiplayer adventure. Whether you want to become a legendary monster slayer, uncover the dungeon's deepest mysteries, build friendships and rivalries, or simply show up and roll some dice, there is a place for you here. Most importantly, your adventures matter. Floors cleared, enemies defeated, discoveries made, and choices taken become part of the campaign's ongoing history. You are not just playing through the world. You are helping write it.

About me

**2023 Critaward winning Gamemaster** Hello! Welcome fellow adventurers! I am Alec, formely known on the internet as Alecthebard I have been playing table top rpgs for about 15 years, and running games for about just as long. I have been a TTRPG content creator since 2020! And have created and been a part of several communities. And the biggest thing I’ve seen a need for is people looking a dungeon master, looking for games! Do you like your games infused with lots of pop culture references, heavy role playing, funny character voices, and multi tiered combat? Well I’m the dungeon master for you!

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters begin at Level 3 and can be created directly through one of my D&D Beyond campaigns, giving you access to the content available there. Ability Scores: Roll 4d6, reroll all 1s, then drop the lowest die. Do this six times and assign the results however you like. Hit Points: Take maximum HP Allowed Content: All official D&D content is welcome. Third-party and homebrew content may be allowed with DM approval. Starting Equipment: Use the standard starting equipment or gold provided by your class and background. Most importantly, create a character who has a reason to enter the Never Ending Dungeon. Whether they seek wealth, glory, answers, power, or simply the thrill of seeing what waits on the next floor is up to you.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please join the Discord server at least 3 hours before your scheduled game and make sure you have a Roll20 account ready to go. Once you join the server, we’ll provide everything you need to get set up, create your character, and prepare for your first expedition into the Never Ending Dungeon.

What Alec Lachman brings to the table

My goal is to make every expedition into the Never Ending Dungeon feel like its own adventure. With every floor offering something different, you might face a massive boss battle one session, explore a strange new environment the next, or find yourself solving puzzles, uncovering mysteries, and interacting with unexpected characters. I provide everything needed to bring the game to life, including a virtual tabletop, custom maps, custom character tokens, D&D Beyond content sharing, music, and immersive encounters. All you need to bring is your character and a willingness to adventure. My GM style leans heavily toward the Rule of Cool. The rules give us a foundation, but creative ideas, cinematic moments, and memorable character choices are always encouraged. If you come up with something wild that makes sense in the moment, I would much rather find a way to make it work than shut it down because of a technicality.

Homebrew rules

Potions Drinking a potion is a Bonus Action. If you drink a healing potion using your Action instead, you receive the maximum amount of healing the potion could normally restore. Administering a potion to another creature still requires an Action. Get Down, Mr. President! When a friendly creature within 5 feet of you fails a saving throw, you can use your Reaction to jump in the way. You take the damage or negative effect in their place. Whatever was about to happen to them happens to you instead. Go Further Beyond In a moment of great crisis, you may ask the DM to Go Further Beyond. This allows your character to push past their normal limits and attempt something they ordinarily could not. You might expend a spell slot you no longer have, move beyond your normal speed, make one desperate additional attack, or perform another extraordinary feat. Going Further Beyond always comes at a cost. The greater the feat, the greater the consequence. You may suffer exhaustion, take damage, sacrifice resources, or face another consequence determined by the DM. This rule is intended for those desperate, cinematic moments when everything is on the line. You can always ask. Whether you can pull it off, and what it will cost you, depends on the moment.

Safety

How Alec Lachman creates a safe table

At the beginning of each game, I will provide content and trigger warnings for anything that may come up during that particular adventure. We use the Stoplight System during play. Players can signal Green to continue, Yellow to slow down or change direction, and Red to immediately stop the scene. You never need to explain or justify why you are uncomfortable. The Never Ending Dungeon also has a moderation team separate from the game itself. If something happens during a session or within the community that makes you uncomfortable, you can reach out to a member of the mod team at any time, including privately during a game.
