About the adventure

This modified version of Curse of Strahd is a gothic horror story taking place in the dark and despairing world of Barovia. The people need a savior, the lands need someone to break its curse, and you need a way out of here. Explore Barovia, make unlikely allies, and dance with darkness in this revamped version of Curse of Strahd. The odds are never in your favor but doesn't that just make every little win against the dark lord Strahd all the more satisfying. Not all choices within the game will be black and white and the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. The choices you and your party make will change Barovia forever. Curse of Strahd Revamped is a modified version of the curse of Strahd campaign meant to give the players a fun and exciting new experience exploring Barovia and carving their own path through the lands on their epic quest to stop Strahd and get home. Even if you've never played before, we welcome everyone! All backstories will be taken into account when crafting the narrative and woven into the lore of the world. The mist has taken you for a reason, join our table and find out why!

About me

Hi, my name is Mina and I'd love to be your dungeon master! I've been obsessed with TTRPGs ever since I was in college and I jumped into DMing the second I could. I love writing homebrew settings that you and I can create together as your character explores the world and helps build it. My Dungeon Master style tends to be more loose and accepting. I love homebrew (as long as it's balanced) and I love hearing everyone's different ideas! The rule of cool is my best friend so expect to see crazy and incredible things happen in my games you wouldn't see happening anywhere else. Bending the rules to allow for awesome party moments is something to expect at my table because ultimately Dungeons and Dragons is about having fun and my goal is to make sure that the table is having as much fun as possible. With my extensive background in creative writing and character creation, you should expect to meet engaging NPCs, worlds tailored just for your party, and villains you love to hate! I play with mostly newcomers (though veterans are welcome too) and have even run afterschool programs for children as young as seven. I often try my hardest to be inclusive so if you've ever been worried that you won't fit into a group because of your gender identity, disabilities, race, or sexuality, my table is open and always welcomes you! So pull up a chair at my table and let's have fun together!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation is expected to happen before the game starts. Stats can be point buy or array, it doesn't particularly matter to me. Starting level is 1. If a character sheet is needed on Roll20, please let me know before making it so that I can put it in the game first. Homebrew is allowed but must be approved first!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Please have a discord account and be in the discord before the game begins. Other than that, we will be using roll20 for the actual battlemaps/combats.

What Mina Guadalupe brings to the table

I will prove ambient music and visuals (such as NPC portraits, item images, backgrounds, etc). As a GM, I embrace the rule of cool more often than not because I think it allows for more creative thinking and fun party dynamics. The game itself will also be more roleplay heavy than combat heavy because I enjoy roleplay in DnD more than combat. There will be fights and they will be hard when they do come up but the expectation should be that roleplay will happen more often.

Homebrew rules

At the beginning of each game, any single player can give the week's recap (in character!) and get inspiration. Inspiration does not stack.

Safety

How Mina Guadalupe creates a safe table

We use lines and veils in our games. I also keep a list of everyone's triggers (I will ask before the game begins and you can tell me privately or in the discord group itself) so that I never accidently trigger someone. If the party would like a session 0, that can be arranged as well. Ultimately, one of my first priorities is to make sure that the game is safe, fun, and comfortable for everyone!
