About the adventure

The Forgotten Realms are already beginning to fall apart. The heroes failed to stop the demons of the Underdark, and now the Cult of the Dragon is preparing its own plan to bring Tiamat back to the world. You play as dragons who have joined forces with the Cult, not as its obedient servants, but because the Cult is useful to your own ambitions. Build your hoards, claim territory, deal with rival dragons, gain influence, and earn the favor of Tiamat while helping the Cult prepare for its greatest ritual yet. The campaign follows Tyranny of Dragons from the other side. Sometimes you will leave your lair to raid, hunt, negotiate, or further the Cult's plans. Other times, the adventure comes to you. Adventurers may discover your nest, armies may attack your territory, or enemies may come looking for your hoard. You are the monsters in someone else's adventure. And this is only the beginning. If the Cult succeeds, Tiamat will return. From there, the campaign continues through the events that eventually create the Doomed Forgotten Realms, giving your dragons the chance to shape the world that comes after.

About me

Dear adventurer, If you’re looking to embark on your next journey, you've come to the right place. Roleplaying games have been a part of my life since my teenage years. They shaped who I am, both as a storyteller and as a person, and eventually led me to become a professional in the industry. I'm passionate about crafting immersive stories, rich worlds, and unforgettable moments, experiences that stay with you long after the campaign has ended. If that resonates with you, then come and join me on the adventure.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will take place together during Session Zero. This gives us a chance to build the characters as a group, answer questions about the rules, and make sure the dragonflight feels like a group with its own relationships and goals from the very beginning. All players will create dragons using the rules from the Dragonflight supplement. You won't be creating a standard D&D adventurer with a dragon-themed appearance. Your character will be a dragon, with the abilities, progression, hoard, and other mechanics provided by Dragonflight. Ability scores will be rolled during Session Zero, and characters will begin at Level 2. Characters will be created directly in Roll20, where we'll also manage character sheets and rolls during the campaign. I'll be available during Session Zero to help with the character creation process, explain any unfamiliar Dragonflight rules, and help make sure everyone's character fits into the campaign. Because of the nature of the campaign, not every dragon type will necessarily be available as a player option. The campaign begins with your characters becoming involved with the Cult of the Dragon and pursuing Tiamat's favor, so some choices, such as metallic dragons, may require a strong roleplaying justification and approval before they can be selected. If you have an unusual character concept in mind, bring it to Session Zero. I'm happy to work with you when the concept fits the story.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before joining the campaign, you'll need a Discord account and a free Roll20 account. No paid Roll20 subscription is required. We will use Discord for voice chat and campaign communication, so you'll need to join the campaign's Discord server before Session Zero. I'll provide the invitation after you join the game. That's it! Character creation will happen together during Session Zero, so you don't need to prepare a character in advance.

What Miguel brings to the table

I will provide an expansive world with immersive visuals, ambient music, and character voices to help bring the setting and its inhabitants to life. All campaign material will be made available through Roll20, so you will have access to the maps, handouts, character sheets, and other resources we use during the game. As a GM, I generally try to stick to the rules as written. When we use homebrew or make changes to the rules, those changes will be discussed and agreed upon beforehand, so everyone knows what to expect. My goal is to create a game that feels immersive and reactive, while still keeping the rules and expectations clear for everyone at the table.

Homebrew rules

This campaign uses the Dragonflight rules from 2CGaming. All player characters will be dragons, using the Dragonflight rules for character creation, progression, dragonflights, hoards, territories, lairs, and other draconic features. Characters will start at 2nd level, at which point a dragon character can choose one of three Dragon Paradigms, similar in function to choosing a subclass in standard D&D. Each Paradigm represents a different approach to being a dragon: Arcanist: Dragons who focus on their innate magical power and develop their abilities as powerful spellcasters. Knight: Dragons who focus on physical prowess and combat, making the most of their natural weapons, strength, and durability. Imperator: Dragons who focus on intelligence, strategy, and leadership, using their abilities to influence and strengthen the entire dragonflight. If you're new to Dragonflight, don't worry. We'll go through character creation together during Session Zero, and I'll explain anything you need to know to get started.
