About the adventure
New to Pathfinder 2e? This adventure is made for you. The peaceful coastal town of Otari has a problem. Something strange is happening beneath the town, and what begins as a simple investigation quickly turns into a journey through forgotten tunnels, dangerous creatures, hidden secrets, and increasingly serious threats. Menace Under Otari, the classic Pathfinder Beginner Box adventure, is designed to introduce you to the world and mechanics of Pathfinder 2e while still feeling like a real adventure rather than a tutorial. You’ll learn the system naturally as we play: exploration, skill checks, teamwork, tactical combat, conditions, actions, and the many options Pathfinder gives you each turn. I’ll explain unfamiliar rules when they come up, so no previous Pathfinder or TTRPG experience is required. You don’t need to memorize a rulebook before joining. Combat will still reward teamwork and smart decisions, but the focus here is learning the game in a relaxed and welcoming environment. There will also be opportunities to roleplay, interact with the other characters, investigate what’s happening, and get a taste of the larger world of Golarion. We’ll play using Foundry VTT, with maps, lighting, automation, music, and visual effects to make learning the system easier and the adventure more immersive. Whether Pathfinder 2e is completely new to you, you’re coming from D&D or another RPG, or you simply want a short adventure before committing to a longer campaign, you’re welcome at the table. And if the group enjoys adventuring together after the Beginner Box, there may be opportunities to continue exploring Otari—and perhaps discover much darker secrets waiting nearby.

About me
I'm a pharmacy student, a lifelong fantasy nerd, and the kind of person who can spend way too much time reading lore, comparing characters, or figuring out how a game system works. I grew up with anime and manga like Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball, Fate series, One Piece, and many more. I also loved fantasy books such as Artemis Fowl, The Bartimaeus Sequence, and Septimus Heap. Comics are another huge part of my life, especially DC. I’m definitely the type of person who enjoys long reading orders, obscure characters, alternate universes, and discussions about different versions of the same hero. When it comes to gaming, RPGs are easily my favorite. Skyrim, Fallout, Dragon Age, and especially the Soulsborne games are exactly my thing. I love exploration, difficult choices, memorable companions, dark fantasy, strange lore, and worlds that feel like they existed long before the player arrived. All of that naturally led me to TTRPGs. I've been playing TTRPGs for 5 years and GMing Pathfinder 2e for 3 years. Pathfinder 2e is my main system, and I especially enjoy GMing, tactical combat, roleplay, worldbuilding, and making Foundry VTT sessions feel smooth and immersive. In general, I'm naturally curious and love learning how things work. Whether it's a game system, a fictional universe, science, or some random topic that catches my interest, I tend to dive pretty deep into it.

Creating your character
Characters will start at Level 1. You’re welcome to create your own character, or use one of the Beginner Box pregenerated characters if you’d rather jump straight into the game. If you’re new to Pathfinder 2e, don’t worry—I’m happy to help you build your character before the first session or during Session 0. Pathbuilder is recommended for character creation, and I’ll help transfer everything into Foundry VTT. We’ll use the Pathfinder 2e rules and official Paizo material. Common options are generally allowed; just check with me first before choosing Uncommon or Rare options so we can make sure they fit the adventure. You don’t need an optimized character or any previous Pathfinder knowledge. Build something you’ll enjoy playing, be willing to work with the party, and I’ll help with the mechanics along the way.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You don’t need to do much before the game—this adventure is specifically meant to be an easy introduction to Pathfinder 2e. Before we play, you’ll just need: * Discord for voice chat and communication between sessions. * A working microphone and preferably headphones. * A modern web browser for Foundry VTT. You don’t need to purchase or install Foundry; I’ll send you a link to join the game. * A Level 1 character, either one you created yourself or one of the Beginner Box pregenerated characters. If you want to make your own but aren’t sure how, I’ll happily help you before the game or during Session 0. There’s no required reading or rules knowledge beforehand. You don’t need to study Pathfinder or memorize how your character works—I’ll introduce the mechanics as they become relevant during the adventure. During Session 0, we’ll introduce ourselves, go over characters, table expectations and safety tools, make sure Foundry is working for everyone, and answer any questions before we begin. Mostly, just come ready to learn, work with the rest of the party, and have fun exploring your first Pathfinder adventure.
What kianmehr brings to the table
I’ll provide a fully prepared Foundry VTT game with maps, lighting, vision, automation, music, and everything you need to play. You don’t need to own Foundry or any Pathfinder books. Since this is the Beginner Box, I’ll also teach Pathfinder 2e as we go. I’ll explain actions, conditions, teamwork, exploration, and combat mechanics when they become relevant instead of expecting you to memorize everything beforehand. Questions are always welcome. Combat at my table is tactical, and I want players to learn why things like positioning, flanking, helping your teammates, and using different actions matter. The Beginner Box is designed to introduce these mechanics gradually, so the difficulty will grow along with your understanding of the system. I also don’t want the adventure to feel like a mechanical tutorial. There will be room for roleplay, exploration, character interaction, and getting to know Otari and the world of Golarion. I especially encourage players to roleplay with each other and start building relationships between their characters. I generally follow the Pathfinder 2e rules closely, but if something is unclear during the session, I won’t stop the game for a long rules debate. I’ll make a temporary ruling—usually leaning toward the players when the rule is genuinely ambiguous—and check the exact rule afterward. Most importantly, this is a place to learn Pathfinder without pressure. You can make mistakes, ask questions, try unusual ideas, and figure out what kind of character and play style you enjoy.
Homebrew rules
I don’t use any major homebrew rules. The game generally follows the official Pathfinder 2e Remaster rules. I do use two official variant rules: * Free Archetype — characters gain additional archetype feats as they level, giving you more room to customize your build. * Ancestry Paragon — characters gain additional ancestry feats, allowing your ancestry and heritage to play a bigger role in your character’s development. Since this is a Beginner Box game, I’ll explain both of these when they become relevant. You don’t need to understand them before joining. Other than these variants, expect the game to stay very close to standard Pathfinder 2e rules.

How kianmehr creates a safe table
Player comfort always comes before preserving a scene exactly as written. Before the game begins, we’ll go over Lines & Veils during Session 0. Lines are subjects that won’t appear in the game at all, while Veils are topics that can exist but will stay off-screen or be handled without unnecessary detail. These boundaries can be changed at any point during the game. During play, I also use X, N & O Cards. You can use X if you want something to stop or change, N if a scene is moving toward something uncomfortable, and O to check in or confirm that you’re comfortable continuing. These can be communicated through Discord or privately to me, and you never need to explain why you’re using them. I also pay attention to intense roleplay between characters. If an argument or conflict starts becoming especially heated, I may check in with the players involved to make sure everyone is still enjoying the scene. PvP is not allowed without clear consent from everyone involved. If anything becomes uncomfortable, we can pause, skip ahead, fade to black, change the scene, or take a short break. You can also message me privately at any time. The Beginner Box is meant to be a welcoming place to learn Pathfinder, ask questions, make mistakes, and enjoy the game without pressure.
