About the adventure
This will be an open-ended, high fantasy Dungeons & Dragons game in a completely homebrew world, fresh for exploration and discovery. Good for both new and experienced players, this campaign is an excellent opportunity for those with the heart of adventure to enjoy a sandbox-focused campaign. As part of this campaign, you shall take the reigns as new heroes in a region ravaged by conflict, guiding the construction and reconstruction of a whole new nation. This game will have a focus on adventure and exploration but also survival, realm building, economics, and politics as you shape a burgeoning nation to come after the fall of your home. Not only will the party be delving into ruins but they shall be rebuilding ruins.

About me
I'm a longtime fan of TTRPG's who first got introduced to them over 20 years ago with homebrewed roleplaying systems. I'm incredibly passionate about gaming and I'm a huge fan of RPGs in general. I love exploration and discovery in games; additionally, I'm a big fan of mechanical depth and building rich, complex characters. I have considerable experience playing, running, and designing TTRPGs of a wide variety of styles and have even taken to collecting TTRPGs. I have experience with Dungeons & Dragons, Genesys, Fabula Ultima, Anima, Mage 2e, Only War, and Triangle Agency. I'm confident in my creative abilities and present strong player-focused worlds fully tailored to delivering the best narrative experience for my players.

Creating your character
New Player Characters will begin at 3rd-level, using the following rules and guidelines for character creation: > Follow the standard character creation method found in the 2024 Dungeons & Dragons Player's Handbook > The following books may be used for character details: Player's Handbook (2024), Forgotton Realms: Heroes of Faerun, Eberron: Forge of the Artificer, Ravenloft: The Horrors Within, Spelljammer: Adventures in Space, Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, The Book of Many Things, Xanathar's Guide to Everything, Bigby's Glory of Giants, Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse, Fizban's Treasury of Dragons, Mordenkainen Presents Monsters of the Multiverse. (This list may change over time, ask if you are unsure) > Use 2024 rules for backgrounds and feats, you may customize your background as follows: you may give it a custom name, you may change its given Origin Feat to any other Origin Feat. > If you choose an older subclass, spell, species, or background not yet adapted for 2024, we will adapt them as appropriately as possible. As a baseline, ignore any ability score increases from your species (or race using the 2014 term), and, if your chosen background does not provide an ability score increase, either: choose two different ability scores and increase one of them by 2 and the other by 1; or, increase three different ability scores by 1 each. > Prepare a backstory for your character. While it can be extensive as you desire, realistically, about a page or two is sufficient as exploring and expanding on your character's story will be a core aspect of the campaign. > Characters are expected to be ready by Session 1 (after Session 0)
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You'll need a Discord account and you'll join the Discord Server created for my games. Have a working mic functional enough that you can be heard. Have your character ready to be input into Foundry (recorded however you'd like, ideally in a manner that you can send it to me).
What Evenwood brings to the table
I employ a lot of my own custom homebrew throughout the game so expect plenty of surprises, unique encounters, and interest combat mechanics. I love to do character voices and match music to the mood of the scene so anticipate both of those enlivening your experience. I also love letting Rule of Cool allow players to make interesting and creative moves using their features and spells. Don't be afraid to experiment!
Homebrew rules
Customized backgrounds: As outlined in character creation rules, you may change your background's name and you may swap its Origin Feat with any other Origin Feat. In general, I may modify rules or mechanics on the fly (typically in a manner to help a player do something cool). These aren't meant to be hardline rules, more like nudges in your favor.

How Evenwood creates a safe table
We'll have a free Session 0 where we'll go over the intentions and expectations behind the game as well as the background of the world and what players may expect to see. During this time, players will have the opportunity to express anything they would and would not like to see within the game both publicly during Session 0 and privately either before or after Session 0. In addition, we will have at least one scheduled break around the middle of each system to give everyone a chance to reset and decompress before getting back into the swing of things. Finally, players are always free at any time, no questions ask, to ask that we fade-to-black a scene to avoid uncomfortable topics.
