About the adventure
You wake in a thick fog, hearing screams from your town. The festival to ward off monsters went terribly wrong... Investigate the strange curse that has fallen upon your land. Overcome evil spirits, sinister fiends, and frightening curses. Can you talk them down or will you have to brandish your steel? Between such troubles, you still have a life to live. Your friends, family, and foes are going through the same hardships. How do you fill each day? Toil away at work? Soak in the bathhouse? Enjoy the theatre? Fall in love? You will face a whole year of troubles in this Asian horror inspired campaign. Each season reveals new issues to overcome and new opportunities to grasp. Do you have what it takes or will you become another poor lost soul in the fog? *This is a heavy roleplay, mystery, and exploration focused game - focused in and around the town. Save your friends, family, and neighbours. Combat will still occur but its frequency or only method of success is lessened in this version of the campaign.*

Creating your character
Character Creation: • Ask about any Uncommon or Rare options. The Player Guide has changed some Uncommon options into Common. • Check the 'Homebrew rules' section below for any official Variant Rules used. • We'll have a full Session 0 to discuss creating a cohesive group of Level 0 characters, making connections to the town the adventure is centred around. You must choose *at least* one named NPC to be a family member, partner, friend, or another connection. • Although we start at Level 0, we will discuss what everyone wants to choose for their character class at Level 1 or if you are going to decide later on. • If you'd prefer, you can choose from a selection of premade characters that are suited to the adventure and setting. You can then change the name and backstory of them if you'd like to personalise further. • To tie your character to the setting and scenario, I encourage you to look at the official Player Guide for this adventure: https://downloads.paizo.com/2026SeasonofGhosts_PlayersGuide.pdf • We will use FoundryVTT to create our characters (but you can use https://pathbuilder2e.com/ as a great character builder and planner for reference) • For those considering archetypes for future level up options, the Player's Guide suggests some, but here are even more thematically appropriate options: Blessed One (one of Willowshore’s shrines), Bounty Hunter, Cultivator, Duelist, Elementalist, Familiar Sage, Familiar Master, Fan Dancer, Five-breath Vanguard, Herbalist, Horizon Walker (Forest), Loremaster, Marshal, Martial Artist, Ritualist, Scroll Trickster, Snarecrafter, Soul Warden, Spirit Warrior, Talisman Dabbler, Undead Slayer, Wandering Chef, Weapon Improviser. New Joiners: • Anyone that joins later or needs to create a new character, will make a character at the party's current level or choose a premade one and level it up. • Before the next game session, I will have a voice-chat discussion with you that substitutes the Session 0 you missed. If you join just before the next session (likely within 48 hours) and I don't have enough time to talk to you, you'll skip and join the session after.

Save your friends, family, and neighbours. Combat will still occur but its frequency or only method of success is lessened in this version of the campaign.*
Homebrew rules
• Level 0 starting characters. To further emphasise how this isn't a story about epic heroes but a couple of villagers rising to meet the challenge, we'll start as Level 0 characters for a couple 'prologue' sessions. After the prologue, we will become 'Level 0 Apprentice' characters before levelling up to Level 1. For more information on the official Variant Rule, see here: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=1344&NoRedirect=1 • Gradual Ability Boost: https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=1300 • Expanding Influence encounters with mechanics from Draw Steel's Negotiations e.g. Pitfalls and Motivations. Nothing you need to read yourself as the Influence encounter works in a similar manner. In some scenarios - if you can convince the opposition quickly - you could try to pause a combat to start an Influence encounter instead. • Investigation Redux by Spirit Bell Games. To help restructure and clarify the research and investigation system so all characters can participate in a fun manner. Helps give you choices between research time or other downtime actions you may take in town. This will be provided to you during Session 0.
