About the adventure

A sickness is spreading within the city, starting from an itch but ending with complete petrification. And now someone you care about has been infected. All that stands between them and death is your courageous journey from the city into the unknown. Time to find the hero inside! Using the Witherwild campaign frame, you will head out from the city into a wild and fantastical place where nature rules itself to find a rare flower that can cure the disease. But the wild is treacherous, with angry nature ghosts, other smugglers and the city‘s military possibly standing in the way of completing your journey. Nature has fallen out of balance and a never ending spring is causing magical overgrowth, further hindering any journey. And time is ticking, so you better hurry. This short campaign is for new and experienced players that want to explore a world where civilization stands against nature. While civilization is flourishing in the scene ton of a slain god, many different nature spirit rule over the wild fighting the growing influence of humankind. I focus on building a whole party full of connections in the Session 0 and use some collaborative worldbuilding to make the Witherwild our own world. But even beyond Session 0, I aim for collaborative storytelling with the party within the sessions. There is no use of generative AI for any content used in this game.

About me

Welcome to my corner of startplaying, adventurer! I'm Charly, interpreter of math rocks, arbiter or the game and your prospective Gaming Mistress. I have a passion for TTRPGs and have been GM-ing for over 4 years, In that time, I’ve been running campaigns, one-shots and a few mini-campaigns. I have experience with DnD, How to be a Hero, the Dark Eye, and I adore Daggerheart as it supports collaborative story-telling very well. I'm driven towards character-driven stories, role-playing and creating unexpected problems for you to solve. At my table, your imagination (within the bounds of our established safety tools) takes the wheel. The game system provide frameworks to tell wonderful and unique stories. In my games, you will not be afraid of the rules, I enjoy teaching new game systems to players with patience, especially if this is your first experience with TTRPGs. Check out my pending games, you might be the perfect player for my table!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create all characters together in the session 0. If character creation sounds too daunting, I'm also bringing some pre-generated characters. Imagine your character as someone with compassion (for at least one person) that will stand against the status quo. They can be from Fanewick (a wild nature, protected by nature spirits) or Haven (an organized city) but our adventure starts in Haven. During the adventure there will be a lot of travel through the frontier and wild, so think about a character you will enjoy playing during these situations. I'm excited if you bring ideas, but please stay flexible so that characters can fit into the world and party. We will start at level 1 and level up after session 2 and session 3. All official content is allowed, Void content and homebrew after discussion with myself.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will play using Foundry VTT and do the videocall over Discord. Video during session is encouraged as I play better with visual feedback from my players. All you will need for the session is a working microphone and speakers (or headset), a computer and internet access.

What Charly brings to the table

I try to set the scene with ambient music and thematically fitting maps. Within this campaing I implement many Daggerheart-specific mechanics (also partially from other campaign frames) to give you an idea what the game can encompass. I like combat with multiple objectives, but am a Rule-of-Cool person so I will allow stuff that sounds cool to me even if it might bend the rules a bit. I try to differenciate my NPCs by tone and attitude instead of doing true "character voices".

Safety

How Charly creates a safe table

As we interpret the Witherwild in Session 0 together, we can decide what does and what does not make it into the game. To make this easier, we will fill a list of lines (content that should not in any way be in the game) and veils (content that is not focused on / skipped over) before Session 0. We use digital X, N, & O cards to indicate being uncomfortable with the current content of the scene. I like doing some aftercare by staying in the videochat and asking some feedback questions after each session.
