About the adventure

Come witness the devastation of Drakkenheim first hand as you and those around you try and survive and escape the initial impact that will lead to the devastation of the city and its populace. The Hook The Cataclysm: On 11/11/1111, a violet meteor vaporized the Royal Ward of Drakkenheim, shattering the city in an instant. The Setting: A Dungeons of Drakkenheim prequel played using the Daggerheart system, witness the exact day the eldritch nightmare was born and fight for survival! The Goal: You aren't legendary heroes yet, you're survivors trapped in a dying capital. Your objective is simple: Get out before the Haze and the fresh horrors it is creating claims you. What YOU Will Do Navigate an Eldritch Escape: Race through a city rapidly mutating around you as the Haze rolls through the streets and stones weep purple ichor. Face Cosmic Horror: Dodge "Octarine" radiation, environmental hazards, and friends-turned-monsters warping right before your eyes. Make High-Stakes Moral Choices: Balance desperate rescue attempts against necessary betrayals as order completely collapses. Manage Daggerheart Mechanics: Fight off the mutating effects of the Haze by strategically managing your dwindling Hope against the encroaching Fear. Define Your Legacy: Decide who lives, who gets left behind, and whether you escape as survivors or end up as shadows etched into the ruins. Game Vibe & Style Genre: High-Octane Survival Horror / Eldritch Fantasy / Disaster Movie Tone: Fast-paced, atmospheric, and tense with a heavy focus on player choices, environmental reactivity, and cinematic escape scenarios.

About me

Welcome, come stay a while and listen! I am a long time gamemaster, and avid tabletop roleplay player. I have been running games for pretty much most of my life from ad hoc adventures in the park when I was a much younger for my friends, regular online sessions, to much grander in person immersive experiences. I always strive to foster a welcoming and safe space for all the people at my table, to allow all to enjoy their hobby. Game Philosophy: - Collaborative Story Telling - we are all here for the same reason, to tell amazing stories, including the gamemaster. - The world is a living one- I like to run games that are fully alive and that the characters are inhabiting, meaning that decisions have consequences, good or bad. - Rules are a framework for a game to enable great moments, if those rules need unique exceptions then so be it. - Player agency - my players are free to choose their own consequences as long as they do not take away from the others at the table. - Serious and Silly - I expect my players to take the story and characters seriously but that does not mean they can not be silly. Roleplay games are meant to be enjoyable, dumb jokes and comedy offers levity to the more serious notes in a story. Favourite Systems: - Dungeons and Dragons - Dark Matter - Call of Cthulhu - Pirate Borg - Alien RPG Thank you for reading this far, if any of this sounds like something you would enjoy then please check out my games or contact me.

Character creation

Creating your character

For this session there will be premade characters designed for the adventure to choose from, one for each Daggerheart Class all at Level 1, however if you want to build your own starting level 1 character then you are more than welcome to do so.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Hardware: Players must have a reliable internet connection, a microphone, and a webcam is preferred for engagement, but voice-only is okay if needed. Platforms Used: Discord: For voice and video calls, alongside out-of-game communication. Alchemy RPG: A free account can be made for use of character sheets, digital dice, and cinematic visual backdrops.

What Rich brings to the table

I strive for an immersive experience, this includes ambient music, cinematic backdrops and occasional voices. Using Alchemy as a fully enhanced Cinematic VTT experience with ambient music, animated motion backdrops, immersive audio and not just a grid map on Roll20. I am of the school of Rule of Cool over the Rules as Written so if you have a creative solution to a problem then go for it. I expect players to want to engage with the story and engage with the other players collaboratively, but the characters are more the welcome to explore any aspect of the story they choose. Also due to this being a horror setting with potentially a lot of body horror, safety is also my main concern. I do not tolerate any anti-social behaviour and any bigotry of any kind, we are all here to have fun in a safe environment. I will make sure if anyone has any major triggers or anything they want to avoid that this is known to myself and all other players, once again any crossing of those boundaries will not be tolerated. Having said all of that, there will not be anything overtly graphic in nature and no extremes in my games.

Homebrew rules

These will be using the Daggerheart Dungeons of Drakkenheim playtest rules, possibly modified for the specific one shot.

Safety

How Rich creates a safe table

Due to the nature of the setting, this game is a 18+ movie rating depending on the table. However I will send a link to a fillable Lines and Veils document to be filled in if needed. I use Alchemy and that has in built Lines and Veils for players with an account as well as X-card system. In game I use the "fade to black" message or audible cue for a topic that a player is uncomfortable with and wants to the scene to end. Any issues that arise in the game that players wish to discus can be done post game privately via video, audio or message.
