About the adventure

“It’s been a difficult trek. The hadrosaurus we rented from the dino pens took a deep wound in the fight with the ghouls yesterday and has slowed us down even more than usual. An errant arrow cut through our rain catching gear and the wizard estimates we have only three days left of water. The fighter thinks we should head east towards the river (and risk running into the predators that hunt animals that drink there) and follow it back to the city, but the rogue is certain the lost ziggurat is nearby and isn’t ready to go home empty handed. What do you think we should do?” -- Welcome to the jungle -- * This Enhanced Edition of Tomb of Annihilation includes additional maps, systems, and narrative content to expand on the original design of ToA accumulated from my own experiences with adventure as a GM and a player, as well as the experiences of dozens of other GM's I've learned vicariously from over the decade since its release. -- What you can expect -- * Jungles teeming with life, both friendly and hostile * The priceless, and merciless, remains of lost civilizations * Exploration, survival, and player driven adventure * Meaningful choices and more meaningful consequences * Deadly foes, traps, and forgotten secrets * Roleplay, intrigue, and memorable NPCs

About me

I am an American expat in Asia who runs games for other English speakers in Asian time zones. I learned GM-ing back in the early 2000's playing D&D 3.5 with my friends in middle school. I was the first in the group to take up the mantle of GM and really enjoyed it and have been running games off and on ever since. Professionally, I have worked as a video game designer, a librarian assistant, and as a teacher. All of these jobs have given me skills and experiences that combine into a really great skillset for a GM. I've also lived in 8 different cities around the world which has helped me to get out of my comfort zone and forge new friendships with people from all walks of life.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players need: * A microphone * A Roll20 account * A Discord account I'm happy to work with anyone new to D&D 5E, TTRPG's, and/or Roll20 to get set up prior to their first session.

What Jakob brings to the table

* A well-prepared game by a GM with decades of experience and an extensive library of materials. * Players will lead session goals while the GM provides opportunities for discovery, roleplay, and combat that they can run with or ignore. * As a GM I work to foster a fun and welcoming vibe with a collaborative storytelling approach. * My professional jobs in life have been as a library assistant, a video game designer, and a teacher so I feel really comfortable researching, designing, teaching, and running games and TTRPGs.

Homebrew rules

* Hero Points (GM given resources players can use to increase die roll results) * Critical Hit and Fumble card decks
