About the adventure

A glowing meteor of cosmic mutagenic stone slammed into the heart of a grand capital city, wiping out the royal family and leaving the ruins shrouded in a toxic, maddening haze. Fifteen years later, Drakkenheim is a haunted, contaminated urban wasteland filled with horrific mutated monsters, rival factions vying for power, and a strange eldritch gemstone called Delerium that everyone wants to harvest despite it driving people insane. You play as adventurers heading into the ruins, each driven by a personal quest. You will have to navigate a massive city sandbox, decide which of the five desperate factions to ally with or betray, and survive the mutating effects of the Haze. It’s an incredibly intense, tactical urban survival campaign where your choices directly reshape the fate of the entire continent.

About me

I've been a gamer my whole life. Final Fantasy VII hooked me on RPGs, and playing HeroQuest with my brothers started it all. Revisiting those games recently reignited my passion for D&D. I love games like Baldur's Gate where your choices actually change the world. I stepped up to GM when my brother got too busy to run our group's game, and it was the best choice I ever made. If you want a game where your character truly lives on, your seat is ready.

Character creation

Creating your character

you start at Level 1. This campaign follows your progression from desperate survivors entering the outer ruins all the way to legendary heroes reshaping the city. We use D&D 5e, and all official sourcebooks are completely allowed for your classes, races, and backgrounds. To keep things fair and balanced, stats will be determined using Standard Array or Point Buy. The general vibe requires a cohesive party of characters who have a strong personal reason to brave the ruins. No disruptive murderhobos allowed.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

For player preparation and software, everyone will need Discord for live voice chat with a decent mic, a web browser to access the premium Foundry VTT server which features fully rendered maps, dynamic lighting, line-of-sight walls, and atmospheric soundscapes, and a free D&D Beyond account where you will build your characters so they can link directly to the table.

What Cade Ironkettle brings to the table

first, the Rule of Cool. If you want to try something epic dat isn't strictly in the rulebook but makes sense for your character and the scene, I will almost always say: "You can certainly try." Second, atmosphere over voices. I'll be honest—I am still working on perfecting my NPC voices, so you won't get a professional voice actor. Instead, I focus one hundred percent of my energy on building thick cinematic tension, using soundscapes, and pacing the narrative to give you a genuine horror experience. Third, a lighthearted out-of-character vibe. We are here to play a game. Even when your characters are fighting for their lives against terrifying monsters, we as players are going to laugh, throw out horror movie references, and enjoy the ride.

Safety

How Cade Ironkettle creates a safe table

For safety and warnings: We use digital safety tools like Lines and Veils and a digital X-Card right inside the software. Because this is a cosmic horror campaign, the core themes and warnings include body horror, mutations, psychological madness, descriptions of visceral combat, and claustrophobic urban decay. There is a strict zero-tolerance restriction against bigotry, sexual violence, player-versus-player hostility, or disruptive behavior.
