About the adventure
Adventures of Stormwreck Isle is an easy to follow 2-5 player beginner adventure that teaches new players the fundamentals of playing dungeons and dragonsd. Everything from starter roleplaying events, dice rolls, combat and all manner of other bits and pieces are all wrapped up in a nice little bundle of an adventure. I shall be mostly following the adventure setting, theme and format from the starter set, albeit with my own little flare and touches that will make it as special for players as possible! The aim here is to get new players involved, or those that wish to try DnD for the first time!

About me
"Hello my dear adventurers, and welcome to Kwingo's Kabin. Please, have a seat, warm yourself by the fire, and take the weight of your boots. Now, whilst you're here, please, sample my wares, and hopefully I can borrow your ears. I have a few stories and tales to tell" Hellooo!! I'm Andy, a Nottingham based DnDer. I have been GMing for close to 7 years if not longer, and have been playing DnD and roleplaying games since secondary school (that was when I was 2 and I'm now 36 so... oh god..) A bit about me I'm a massive nerd! Games tester for a living, games and DnD are intertwined into my life in more ways than I can fathom. From running games for the past 3 plus years with my regular team, to hosting one shot adventures with colleagues at work, through to running games for charity events, DnD is in my blood through and through and I live and love it. Mainlky focusing on fantasy DnD style adventures, I have also dabbled in Sea of Thieves, Star Wars and Root, and looking to build up my knowledge of other systems, meet more like minded people, and share my stories with some of you amazing folk!

Creating your character
There will be two options for characters upon sign up. They can either use one of the predetermined characters for the campaign that have already created, or, should they wish to use their own character, there will be a session 0 to discuss character creation. This will be following the character creation mechanics from the Player's Handbook 2024, and I shall be on hand every step of the way to walk them through the process of creating their character. Should they choose to use one of the characters already in the campaign, then again, the session 0 will discuss their characters in more detail, and an open discussion will be had should they wish to amend or change anything about their character before the sessions start fully.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
The following things should be set up before the session ideally: - if using your own character, a printout version should it already be created, or one set up on a character tracking software (DnD Beyond is probably best for this - Discord - I run my sessions on Discord, and therefore would require players to set up their own Discord profile before the game starts - Owlbear Rodeo - for map tracking, battles and just to give an all round more visual aid for players, I like to use owlbear rodeo to track things. Fear not! I shall explain how Owlbear Rodeo works for those new to using this! - Essentials - paper, pencils / writing equipment and dice. I usually go on trust for people's dice rolls but, there are also times where a dice roll needs to be seen. If this is the case, we can use Owlbears built in dice roller or another digital dice rolling app to see these!
What Kwingo's Kabin brings to the table
In terms of what I bring to the table, I shall be bringing my repertorie of accents, props in some cases, music to build up suspense and atmosphere, as well as many other treats for the players! In terms of XP / how characters level up, for this campaign it is usually pre-determined but, should things happen that I deem worthy, additional rewards and inspiration will be provided to players!
Homebrew rules
A couple of homebrew rules I go by when running campaigns - Criticals - I give the player a choice, they can either have max damage delt and roll additional (so if D6 damage, it would be 6 plus another dice roll), or they roll double the amount of dice and determine the outcome. - critical misses - I tend to treat critical misses (rolls of 1 on a D20) as bad things - you could drop a hammer on your foot when trying to throw, you could trip over a rock when doing stealth checks, essentially, bad rolls = bad things! (not overly bad, mostly comedic outcomes!) - potions - potion drinking, or doing certain things whilst in combat depending on the thing will either be determined as a free action or a bonus action depending on the difficulty of the action the player is trying to do

How Kwingo's Kabin creates a safe table
I usually run my sessions through the X mentality. I shall outline before the campaign starts the type of things that will be covered in the campaign and whether there are any items withing that may be sensitive. Should for any reson the player feel uncomfortable or at risk at any time, they can use the X method - either sign an X, type X in the chat, or say X out loud, and the session will be stopped to make sure the player is ok, whethery they wish to continue or not, and proceed as best suits the players needs.
