About the adventure
VENOM is the first of a trilogy of 80s-style Action Movie games using the amazing Outgunned RPG. You will play a member of a rag-tag group of mercenaries on the edge of society, shunned by the government until they need you. Now is one of those times. If you like high-octane, 80's style action with guns blazing, cars roaring, and physics taking a vacation, this is a game for you. VENOM will be a story that's both over-the-top and grounded in consistency of story. There will be no back-room politics, scheming, or intrigue. This is pure adrenaline with evil bad guys and questionable good guys. Has that got you interested yet? If it has, take a ride on the fun side with us! Play Outgunned: Venom and blast your way into the next Summer Blockbuster. Disclaimer: Outgunned: Venom is suitable for ages 18+ and roleplayers of any experience.

About me
Hello! I've been running and playing RPG games since the mid-90s, starting with Star Wars 2nd Edition from West End Games through many others afterward. I'm typically that guy in your group of friends who is always ready to run a game and prefers to GM. I'm a writer and game designer by trade and I greatly enjoy telling an engaging and fun story for everyone. If you have any interest in the games I'm running, always feel free to reach out! I've run a vast amount of games over the years, from D&D (2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th editions) to Star Wars (every version!) to Burning Wheel to White Wolf's various games and many many others. I love game systems and learning new ones with the time I have available. My collection of games is nearing library-level even though I know I'll never play most of them. If you're still reading then I guess you want to know more about me? Well, I'm a SciFi and Fantasy author as well as a video game designer. I work for a large AAA publisher but I prefer to keep my day job out of my spotlight. Due to that you can be certain I love PC and console games and they are definitely my stress salve. I'm also a lover of combat flight simulators and aviation in general. It's definitely one of my biggest loves. Well, that and coffee. Lots of coffee. The only thing I love more than coffee is my adorable son, my lovely wife, and my old and grumpy dog.

Creating your character
Character creation will take place during a Session 0 (free to all players). There you will create your hero, define your group, and maybe come up with a story or two on missions you've done in the past. If there's time, we may even play a small scenario to wet your proverbial whistle.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Before Session 0 we will decide if players want to play on Alchemy (a narrative style VTT) or if we'd prefer to roll physical dice with physical character sheets and just use VTTs for flavor maps and artwork. I leave that up to you! You will need a Discord account however, as that's where we'll meet and use voicechat.
What Mike brings to the table
I will provide any and all RPG materials needed to play. If you're new to Outgunned, I'll teach you! Just bring your love of browsing Blockbuster at 7pm for that new action flick! No house rules at the beginning but perhaps some as we play through the game arcs. Rule of Cool is the name of the game in Outgunned.

How Mike creates a safe table
I always use the X card primarily. You can X publicly or in a private message to me. If you haven't used X-cards in your games before, they're very simple. If the game enters some content that you just can't deal with, simply type "X" to me or in the general and we will move past it, no questions asked. During Session 0 I will also go over any Lines and Veils the table has. If you're unfamiliar, Lines are things you absolutely do not want to have in the game. It won't appear in any fashion. Veils are things that are okay to have in the game but you prefer them to be off screen or faded to black. They will not be described in detail.
