About the adventure
Beyond the edge of civilization lies a land where ancient empires have vanished beneath an endless emerald canopy, where colossal beasts still roam, forgotten temples slumber beneath tangled vines, and every winding river may conceal wonders—or horrors—untouched for centuries. Welcome to Chult, a vast and untamed peninsula where survival is never guaranteed and every expedition becomes a legend. Here, you'll chart your own course through dense jungles, towering mountains, cursed ruins, haunted swamps, bustling port towns, and lost cities whose names have long since faded from memory. Treasure hunters, explorers, scholars, and adventurers from across the world have all come seeking fortune and glory. Few return. Yet something far more sinister now grips the world. A mysterious affliction has spread across the land, defying even the greatest magic. The dead cannot rest, old wounds refuse to heal, and whispers of an ancient evil echo from the darkest corners of Chult. Time itself has become your enemy as the race begins to uncover the truth before hope is extinguished forever. Your journey will challenge far more than your sword arm. You'll negotiate with rival factions, uncover forgotten histories, navigate deadly wilderness, outwit ingenious traps, and make impossible choices where every decision may carry lasting consequences. The jungle is as relentless as any monster, testing your ingenuity, courage, and resolve at every turn. But Chult is more than danger. It is a land bursting with vibrant cultures, mysterious magic, breathtaking vistas, dinosaurs that thunder across the plains, hidden shrines dedicated to forgotten gods, and secrets buried for countless generations. Every trail promises discovery. Every ruin tells a story. Every expedition writes its own legend. What begins as an urgent mission soon grows into an unforgettable adventure filled with exploration, mystery, danger, and wonder. The deeper you venture into the heart of Chult, the more you'll realize that the greatest threats are not always the ones you can see—and some doors were sealed for very good reasons. Will your party become the heroes who unravel one of the greatest mysteries in the Forgotten Realms... or simply another tale swallowed by the jungle? Pack your gear. Sharpen your blades. Trust your companions. The jungle is waiting.

About me
I have been DMing for a couple of years, being playing since 1979. Looking to DM a heavy RP campaign, light combat and players that don't create OP characters. I think that having unoptimized characters provides more fun, as you need to think or find other ways out of encounters other than brute force. In my games I like dependable players that make the campaign a priority and will show up each session, as it is only respectful to the DM, who is spending hours preparing for the sessions and the other players depending that the party is stable. Play mostly RAW, but there is always room for the Rule of Cool, as long as you can RP your way into it. Not looking for rules lawyers, but always open to discuss rulings, as long as in the end, the DM makes the final ruling. I'm pretty easy-going, transparent with my thoughts and likes to keep the channels of communication open throughout - in and out of session. Looking for long term players, who is not afraid, but welcomes campaigns that might resolve in a year or two of sessions. Pretty much everything else, we can learn from each other as we go.

Creating your character
Ruleset: 2014 version of D&D Character Races and Classes Characters will be allowed to be of any race, except for autobots, warforged, flying, undead or Dhampirs (they might as well be undead in my book). Characters will be allowed to be of any class, except for ARTIFICERS (I personally hate them, and it will drive me insane to DM with one in the party.) Ability Scores The campaign will be utilizing the 27-point buy system. Starting Gold Your character will start with the maximum gold for your 1st level class. This will be used to purchase your gear with. Or you can start with the starting gear for your 1st level class. Hit Points 1st Level: Maximum HD + CON modifications 2 - 20 Level: Average HD + CON ((1/2 HD [rounded up]) + CON) Please have your character ready to go before session start, the Foundry VTT server will be available 24x7, so please set up your character before session start.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
1. Go to the discord server: https://discord.gg/H9q9YZkHP6, review the rules and expectations. If you can comply, fill out an application, which there are directions on how to do so on the discord server. 2. Make sure that you can connect to the Foundry VTT server: https://dragonsden.servegame.com/join before session. 3. Contact me (the DM) before session, to allow me to create a FVTT log in for you (if you have been approved as a player.) 4. Make sure you have Discord, as this will be the communications layer. Let me explicitly say this... Follow these instructions, as without a submitted application -- which is not the same as "request to join" -- you will not be considered.
What Dragon brings to the table
High Fantasy, not Modern/Sci-Fi This is part of my posting in the Foundry VTT Channel, but I will repeat here... There are no firearms, gunpowder, modern weapons, phasers, lasers, etc. allowed. This is a high fantasy campaign so, "swords, boards and magic" (medieval arms and armaments... and magic) type of things. Style of Play - Not a Video Game I would call it "old school style". Something like virtual "pen and paper," -- no animations, no sound effects. Think of it like if you were sitting in a basement in the 70's/early 80's with a bunch of friends playing. If you need all the "bells and whistles" to keep your attention, well, I am glad we got that out of the way -- this is not that. Newbie DM Though I have been playing since 1979, starting with AD&D (fighting with my parents that I was NOT performing devil worship,) I was forced to stop when they kept burning my books. I didn't restart until 3.5 after college, and been playing ever since. I only have been DMing for about 4 / 5 years , so I have plenty to learn, but trying my best. If you need professional scene presentations or massive flavor text, again, I am not there yet... But I am trying my best to get there!
Homebrew rules
Sleeping with armor Sleeping in light armor has no adverse effect on the wearer, but sleeping in medium or heavy armor makes it difficult to recover fully during a long rest. When you finish a long rest during which you slept in medium or heavy armor, you regain only one quarter of your spent Hit Dice (minimum of one die.) If you have any levels of exhaustion, the rest doesn’t reduce your exhaustion level. Exhaustion If a creature does not take a long rest within a 24-hour period, it suffers 1 level of exhaustion every 12 hours until it takes a long rest. Rest * A maximum of three (3) short rests can be taken in the character's day. After three short rests have been taken, no more can be taken until the character had taken a long rest. * A long rest can only be taken when: * The DM allows it (most likely if the party is traveling, where it would take more than a day to traverse.) * The game clock has at least 18 hours expired from the last long rest.

How Dragon creates a safe table
I have a module called "Raise My Hand" installed in FVTT, where if a situation or theme is uncomfortable or makes the player feel unsafe, they have the opportunity to click the icon on the left of their FVTT screen, that will notify me that there is an issue. This notification is set to just notify me, so other players are not aware. If a player does trigger a notification, I would call a break, and then have a personal conversation with them to find out the issue and discuss how we can get around it. Once a solution is discovered, the appropriate actions would be implemented. Sometimes themes are integral to the story line, sometimes not... If they are, maybe another way to express them could be used. If they are not, then they are removed.
