About the adventure
Powerful factions are racing to uncover a hidden hoard of gold dragons, and you've found yourselves caught in the middle. Will you find the treasure before they do? Will you forge alliances with Waterdeep's most influential factions, pit them against one another, or risk everything to claim the fortune for yourselves? Every choice—and every hesitation—changes the way the story unfolds. In the City of Splendors, your decisions shape not only your fate, but the fate of Waterdeep itself.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi, I'm Kade — a nerd, father, husband, and most relevant for a StartPlaying profile... a professional game master! I specialise in cinematic, character-driven, narrative-focused tabletop RPGs, running both beginner-friendly official modules and epic homebrew campaigns. I'm based in the UK and mostly available 8–11pm UK time, which is 3pm Eastern time for those on the other side of the pond.

Creating your character
Characters will be created during our first session and their backstories will be woven into the campaign.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
In preparation for this campaign, you'll need to have Discord and a Roll20 account. I also strongly recommend using PHYSICAL DICE! Nothing beats the feel of a dice in your hand and the sound of those Nat 20s hitting the table. If you need dice, check out OnlyCrits.com and use my affiliate link GMKADE for a 15% discount.
What Kade brings to the table
Adventurers get access to the 2024 Players Handbook on DnD Beyond for character creation and your characters backstory will be woven into the campaigns framework. Custom battlemaps, NPC art, and background music will all be provided to create an appropriate atmosphere. Waterdeep will progress and feel alive, NPCs will be voiced (badly at times), and your choices will influence the story.
Homebrew rules
Homebrew rules will be discussed and agreed during session zero.

Safety
How Kade creates a safe table
Creating a safe and welcoming table is a top priority for me. Before the adventure begins, we’ll have a Session Zero to introduce everyone, discuss expectations, and talk through any boundaries. During this session, I’ll explain how we handle sensitive topics and answer any questions you have about the game. I use an X card system that allows players to pause or skip content they’re uncomfortable with—digital, messaged, or held up on video—so you can always feel in control. At the end of each session, we’ll spend 10–15 minutes debriefing to check in with players, share feedback, and make sure everyone had a positive experience. My goal is to make sure all players feel comfortable, included, and able to focus on fun and adventure. Everyone’s safety and enjoyment comes first, so you can immerse yourself in the story with confidence.
