About the adventure

The Mists are always hungry... and tonight, they've chosen you. Every session is a brand-new standalone horror adventure set within the terrifying Domains of Dread. One week you may find yourself defending the last walls of a city against an endless undead horde. The next, you could be investigating a haunted manor, exploring a cursed tomb, or fleeing an unimaginable creature through a realm where the laws of reality no longer apply. Each Domain offers its own unique horror, inspired by classic gothic, folk, cosmic, and supernatural tales. This is an immersive, roleplay-focused Dungeons & Dragons experience where mystery, atmosphere, and meaningful choices take centre stage. Combat is dangerous and purposeful, investigations reward clever thinking, and your decisions will shape how each story unfolds. While every adventure is self-contained, returning players may begin to notice strange connections between the Domains and uncover a larger mystery hidden within the Mists. This game is perfect for players who love dark fantasy, suspense, and collaborative storytelling but don't want to commit to a long campaign. Whether you're completely new to Ravenloft or a seasoned adventurer, you'll be able to jump into any session with a freshly created character or bring back a survivor from a previous tale. Expect memorable NPCs, cinematic encounters, moral dilemmas, and plenty of moments where running away may be the wisest choice. Will you survive the night... or will the Mists claim another soul?

About me

I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs since 2019 and running games since 2021, both online and in person. Outside of TTRPGs, I’ve worked as a software developer for the past four years, and I’m also a big reader. A lot of the books I love influence the way I run games, especially when it comes to character relationships, emotional moments, and that sense of being completely swept up in a story. What I love most about tabletop RPGs is the chance to roleplay, tell stories with other people, and create memorable moments together. I especially enjoy character interaction and romance in storytelling, and one of my biggest goals as a GM is to create D&D stories that capture some of the same feelings that my favourite books do. Most of my experience is with D&D 5e, both as a player and as a GM, and I’m very comfortable running games online using Roll20, Discord, and D&D Beyond. I aim to create welcoming, inclusive, and engaging games for both newer and more experienced players, with a balance of roleplay, exploration, combat, and character-driven moments. I also play Vampire: The Masquerade and would love to run it in the future. I also have two cats, who are very supportive of my tabletop hobby from a distance.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters will be Level 5 and created using the 2024 D&D Core Rules (5.5e) before the game begins. You're welcome to bring your own character or choose from a selection of pre-generated characters if you'd rather jump straight into the adventure. Characters should be built using the official 2024 rules with Standard Array for ability scores. All official player options from the 2024 ruleset are welcome, with no additional restrictions. If you're unsure about your character or are new to D&D, I'm happy to help with character creation before the session. My goal is to get everyone into the game quickly so we can spend our time exploring the horrors hidden within the Mists.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before the game, please make sure you have the following ready: * A Discord account for voice communication (a good-quality microphone is required). * A free Roll20 account, as all maps, tokens, and handouts will be hosted there. * The Beyond20 browser extension installed if you're using D&D Beyond for your character sheet. This allows your rolls to be sent directly to Roll20. * Your Level 5 character completed before the session begins (unless you've chosen to use one of the provided pre-generated characters). Once you've booked your seat, you'll receive invitations to the Discord server and Roll20 game well before the session. If you have any technical issues or need help setting anything up, I'm always happy to assist before game day.

What Drew brings to the table

My goal is to create a cinematic, immersive horror experience where every session feels like stepping into your own gothic horror novel. You can expect atmospheric maps, ambient music, dynamic lighting, and handouts to bring each Domain of Dread to life. I love roleplaying memorable NPCs with distinct voices and personalities, encouraging players to interact with the world beyond simply rolling dice. Combat is meaningful, tactical, and story-driven. Every encounter has a purpose, and not every battle is meant to be won through brute force alone. Creative thinking, teamwork, and clever roleplay are always rewarded, and I'm a firm believer in the Rule of Cool when it enhances the story without overshadowing the game. Most importantly, I strive to create a welcoming and inclusive table where players of all experience levels feel comfortable getting involved. Whether you're a veteran adventurer or stepping into Ravenloft for the very first time, you'll find a supportive environment focused on collaborative storytelling, memorable character moments, and plenty of terrifying surprises lurking within the Mists.

Safety

How Drew creates a safe table

During play, I use X Cards and private direct messages as safety tools. If at any point a player wishes to skip, fade to black, or change the direction of a scene, they can do so without needing to explain why. I'll always respect those requests and adjust the game accordingly. At the end of every session, we'll have a short debrief where everyone can discuss their favourite moments, provide feedback, and check in after the adventure. I want every player to leave the table feeling heard, respected, and excited to return for another journey into the Mists.
