About the adventure
The lights are drawn upon you, and applause echoes through the theater. You take your first breath-- and realize you don't remember how you got here. A script waits your voice to speak it to life, and an unseen director demands the show must go on. Your captive audience truly cannot leave-- neither can you. Is the story already written, or can you break free before the final curtain falls? This is a dark fantasy horror one-shot inspired by Masque of the Red Death, Phantom of the Opera and more! Expect unsettling encounters-- difficult choices, and a dramatic atmosphere that slowly shifts from wonder to dread. Combat is meaningful rather than constant, with the focus placed on exploration, investigation, roleplay, and discovering the what awaits the next act. Please note, this is a 3 week, 3 pay period, continuous asynchronous one shot to be played over the course of 3 weeks.

About me
Hi! Willow, a storyteller and Game Master with about ten years of dice rolling, world building, and plot twisting experience. Most of which has been Play-by-Post. I run a wide variety of systems! Dungeons & Dragons, Godbound, Vampire: The Masquerade, other World of Darkness titles, City of Mist, and more; because I love matching the right game to the right group. I’m online and available 12+ hours a day through discord, which means I’m flexible, responsive, and ready to support you between sessions. My biggest passion as a DM is investing in my players’ stories: taking your ideas, characters, and wild theories and turning them into unforgettable adventures we build together. Whether you want high drama, fantastical vibes, gritty horror, or chaotic fun, I tailor each campaign to what excites you. When I’m not running games, you’ll probably find me absorbing inspiration from other media or painting in my spare time! Every game I run is crafted with intensive care, creativity, and a genuine love for collaborative storytelling. If you’re looking for a DM who listens, adapts, and brings your imagination to life, I’d love to play with you! Thank you for considerations, and may all your rolls be ever in your favor!

Creating your character
Characters will be created before the game begins. You'll start at **Level 5** using the **2024 / 2014 D&D 5e rules**, with **Point Buy or Standard Array** for ability scores! Any officially published WotC species, class, and background is welcome unless otherwise discussed! Your character doesn't need an elaborate backstory, but you're free to craft one! You may not remember most of it when the adventure begins. Everyone awakens in the theater, with their memories fragmented (unless otherwise preferred), discovering who they are through the story itself. Feel free to leave parts of your character's past intentionally vague if you'd like to uncover them during play. Characters can be created in **D&D Beyond**, **Dicecloud**, or another digital character sheet you're comfortable sharing (I can provide roll20 or PDF sheets!). If you're unsure about a build or have a fun concept, I'm always happy to help make it fit the adventure.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Discord is required! D&DBeyond or Roll20 is optional!
What Sleepy brings to the table
I run games that put the story and the characters first. I reward creative ideas, clever problem solving-- and players who interact with the world! If you come up with a plan that surprises me, I'll do my very best to let the cinematic world around you, react to it as deserved. As this is a Play-by-Post game-- I focus on descriptive writing, memorable NPCs, and keeping the story moving. I'll provide clear, ornate descriptions-- respond to player choices, and make sure everyone has opportunities to contribute. Exploration, investigation, roleplay, and tense moments take center stage, with combat serving the story rather than interrupting it. Maps are provided as needed! I aim to be fair and consistent with the rules, but if a cinematic or particularly clever idea makes for a better moment, I'm happy to reward it when it doesn't overshadow the rest of the table. The goal is for everyone to help tell a memorable story together. One where your choices genuinely shape how the final act unfolds.
