About the adventure
You and your team of content-makers run a successful YouTube channel – Your Folking History. Together you create videos about folklore and the hidden history of locations in England and further afield. For your latest video you received information about the coastal locale of Inskirk where a town famously fell into the sea and has been the source of many a spooky tale. While Inskirk is surrounded by intricate hidden caves and a history of smuggling, it has its own notoriety and surely a tale to tell. This combat-light, two-part self-contained game features all the mystery and gothic horror you’d expect from a rural English setting. Are the villagers telling you everything they know? Will you find your way through Inskirk and find the story you need to bring your next incredible video to life? Only time will tell. This adventure uses the “Kids on Bikes” system, pared back to using only four dice (D4, D8, D12, and D20). Characters will be provided and all the details on ‘how to play’ will be covered before a session. Each game session is for four players plus the GM.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hey there! I'm an all-inclusive DM, play enthusiast and group facilitator. I run games that are intended as great stories; over single sessions or multi-month campaigns these tales are told through the eyes of my players. Since TTRPGs are hobby games and meant to be FUN above all else I design everything I run with fun being something everyone can have (I hope) on their terms. For example, I'll make sure that player types are well matched and that everyone knows what kind of content they're getting themselves into. I'd don't limit myself to one system or play style. I love D&D but am just as happy running a deep, dark tale using Doomsong or getting stuck into a narrative and role play-first world with Kids on Bikes. Each format has its merits and shortcomings which I try to bend as far as possible to keep fun-focus first! At the table we're rules-light most of the time; life is too short for number-crunching and "But the book says..." - where the rule of cool will do, the rule of cool *will* do. Players looking for an easy way in to a game or just want to meet similar-minded people, I am the DM for you.

Creating your character
For this game characters will be provided. You will be given all of the information you need to bring them to life at the table; including background detail, a small inventory, special skills, and four core stats (Rizz, Smarts, Fight, Self-Preservation)
There'll be up to four players in this game; chances are they'll be people you've never met and that is OK! I aim to keep my games dialled to a dull roar so everyone can feel heard, seen, and ready to play.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
To get ready for the game you should: 1️⃣ Block out your calendar! Don’t let someone put something over your leisure time; this is wellbeing for you. 2️⃣ Check all of the player-character information sent to you; it will have everything you need to engage in the game and quickly find your feet. 3️⃣ Read the ‘how to’ guide for Kids on Bikes; it’s not a complicated system and there is no ‘learning’ to do to be able to play these games. 4️⃣ Sign in to the Discord server we will use to play. A link will be sent upon booking. 5️⃣ Put your collaborative, investigative hat on and get ready to have a whole bunch of fun; making some new friends (I hope) along the way. If you have any questions at all about the game, how we will engage in it together, or anything else TTRPG please don’t hesitate to give me a shout by email or on Discord.
What Tom Jepson brings to the table
From me you will get: 👉 An immersive, conversational horror story 👉 Your player-character information 👉 A brief ‘how to’ guide when it comes to the Kids on Bikes system 👉 The Discord link (important, that one!) I also aim to provide a safe, welcoming, non-judgemental atmosphere where players like you and I can come together to enjoy the hobby we’ve invested ourselves in. It’s really important that everyone feels they can show up however they are on the day and still have fun.
Homebrew rules
For this adventure we will be using the “Kids on Bikes” system, pared back to using only four dice (D4, D8, D12, and D20). Gameplay leans heavily on role play, interaction and conversation, and descriptive (rather than mechanically-decided) action. We will always use the roll of a die to set the bar for a challenge however this is definitely one for the explorers, investigators, and curious role players! Characters each have Four Core Stats which utilise one of the dice; no two characters will have the same strengths. For this scenario your character stats are: ✨ Rizz: You’ve got that internet-sheen charm-façade down to an art. It might seem sincere to some but others will see through it, your inexperience showing. 🧠 Smarts: You can assess your situation, use what’s around you, and try to make the most of whatever’s going on. Craftiness, hiding, research. 💪 Fight: You can punch your way out of a paper bag and do enough to end a scrap, or make a big enough gap in whatever’s going on to get away. 🏃 Self-Preservation: You know you can’t help anyone if you’re not helping yourself (and saving your own bacon is very high on the priority list right now!). Sense of direction, stealthiness, ability to run away without falling on your face.

How Tom Jepson creates a safe table
This is a horror story. While it will be kept firmly to a “15” rated adventure and descriptions of more savoury elements will not be graphic there may be mention of drowning, suicide, child death, ritualistic behaviour, burning, and local oppression.
