About the adventure

Odds are that you may not know how to play this system, and thats ok! The rules are incredibly simple to learn and the game itself heavily emphasizes storytelling over dicerolls. So, if you love deep heavy roleplay, you'll love this system. You'll also love this sytem if you're the type of player who gives a page long description of "how do you kill the big bad guy". The more you put into the game, the more we all will get out of it. I can work with socially anxious players who give short answers, but it is a lot more fun if you get descriptive. Togeher we are going to flesh out the world of "Public Access". The main premise of the game is that you are a kid who once lived in Deep Lake, New Mexico somewhere in the 80's and very early 90's. Maybe you were born there, or maybe you moved there with your parents for a while. In either case, you left the town in the mid 90's and haven't been back since. Until now. You joined a message board because you've had these memories of watching a television show as a kid. It was low budget, strange, and morbid. Something that should not have been put on the airways in the first place. You learned that it was from a station called TV Odyssey which played on cable channel 94. Stranger still, the television station disappeared in 1992. Not closed down, physically disappeared! The official story is that the building burned down. But in the wake of an obvious cover up, tapes began appearing featuring recordings of the shows that haunt your memories. It's now 2004, and you and your forum friends decided to pull the trigger and rent a house in Deep Lake over the summer. It's time to find out what really happened to TV Odyssey. The question is, are you willing to find out how deep the rabbit hole goes? Investigate paranormal mysteries, dig through analogue horror style adventures, and live in your own Creepypasta of OUR making.

About me

Well met Adventurers! ✨ Hello everyone! My name is Noodle, and I am your humble Dungeon Master for hire! I have over 25 years of experience leading countless adventurers into dark endless dungeons, navigating political intrigue, solving noir style mysteries, surviving realms of nightmares, and being whisked away into worlds of imagination and wonder. 🎬 Storytelling has been in my life from an incredibly young age. Books and movies were consumed in mass. Video games, with their rich and deep storylines, filled my mind and fueled my creativity. I would endlessly write short stories and comic book adventures. That is, until I played D&D. Immediately, the role of Dungeon Master called to me. The rules of the game are fine and dandy, but what really drew me in was the storytelling. With a whisper and a word, worlds spawned from the corners of my mind. NPC’s come to life and become your greatest companions or your worst villains. A blank room becomes a grand ballroom filled with secrets and espionage. The world is a stage, and all I need is the actors. 📜 My greatest joy is creating a world where players, like YOU, can jump right in and play out your characters greatest adventures. Craft the character of your dreams with goals and flaws and fulfill their story arcs while on a daring high stakes adventure. Find love, fight villains, save innocence, seek riches, and right the wrongs that I have laid out before you. Unite with fellow players, bond over hardships and tragedies, and celebrate the good times, the simple times, and the times we share together. 🌈 As your Narrator, I bring a genuine love for collaborative storytelling and world building. It doesn’t matter if you are an experienced player or if you are trying roleplaying games for the first time, I craft each session to make sure that everyone is included and has a chance to enjoy the limelight. All people are welcome and included in this safe place where you can explore and have fun! ⚔️ So pack your bags, grab your dice, and bring a pal! The call to adventure is ringing true in the deeps. Do you have what it takes to change the world and join in on the adventure of a lifetime? Let’s find out, together!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will do our character creation during Session 0 and it will be over Roll20. If you do not have a Roll20 account, you do not have to pay for anything, you'll just have to make a profile and accept the invite. Roll 20 have a form fillable character sheet, so don't be nervous, I'll explain the entire process. You'll see how simple this really is. However before then, you should flesh out a background for your character. As a child you lived in Deep Lake, New Mexico for a short time sometime in the late 80's through the early 90's. (This is a made up location, so the pressure is off) At some point you moved out of town and haven't been back since. It is currently 2004 and you are in your mid to late 20's when you return with your group. The player characters have each suffered a great trauma in their lives, which need not be mentioned now but will be revealed through game play. During the game we will slowly reveal more and more of your past. For now, we just need to know what your current job is (if you have any), any relations you may have (if any), and a general sense of your attitude, style, and things that you would be nostalgic for. And if this seems daunting, no worries! I can be here to help you along the way!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

So you'll need access to Discord, a Role20 account, and to set aside a few hours for gameplay. Other then that, you won't need anything else.

What Noodle brings to the table

What I bring to the game is excellent story telling, painting a scene with words, and letting everyone have a space in the game. I also am incredibly patient with new players so don't feel like you're a bother or are asking too many questions.

Homebrew rules

None- The game is extremely flexible so there is no need for homebrew rules.

Safety

How Noodle creates a safe table

There is a questionaire in the beginning that I'm asking you to fill out. It will have many of the things that can be found in the game. The list will be extensive but not complete as I can't account for everything. That being said, we will also be having a session 0 where we will be talking about how gameplay will be conducted, along with common curtasys and discussions on touchy subjects. I really encourage that you read through the wall of Content Warnings (listed below) for this game. It's extensive but only touches on SOME of the horrors that are in Public Access. This game is not meant to feel good. It's meant to be horrifying and exploits traumas experienced by our characters. Because of the nature of the game, I'll be doing a quick check in during rough scenes and after we conclude for the session, to make sure everyone is still doing good. And as always, I have an open door policy. A simple DM is all it takes to drop something or address an issue anonymously.
