About the adventure

Are you ready to enter the Sword Coast and play through my favourite D&D campaign? We start off in the city before heading to the quaint town of Phandalin where wonderful NPCs, all with their own (questionable) voices, set you on a quest to find one of your oldest friends and uncover one of the region's oldest secrets. Following the completion of this tailored storyline, as a group we can decide what adventure follows next: Phandelver and Below, Dragon of Icespire Peak or a homebrew creation of my very own Whether you are a veteran or a new player, come and play a game where your choices have consequences and the mystery and loot are just waiting to be uncovered! We'll be using Roll20 for the game and character creation and Discord for communication (open to discussing other mediums if needed)

About me

I’ve been DMing Dungeons & Dragons for five years, but the fascination started much earlier. When I was about ten, I discovered my dad’s old AD&D books tucked away in my nan’s loft. The artwork, the strange creatures, the promise of whole worlds inside a rulebook—it stuck with me. In 2021 I finally joined an online group and quickly found myself behind the screen as the Dungeon Master. Since then, creating adventures and watching players shape the story has become one of my favourite things to do. For me, D&D is collaborative storytelling at its best: I build the world, you decide what to do in it, and together we discover what happens next. I genuinely love having to rip up my notes mid session as everything goes.....different Outside the game I work helping people find employment and new opportunities and a history in Learning and Development, with global awards a testament to my ability of fostering inclusive environments. At my table you can expect: • A welcoming and inclusive table where new and experienced players alike can enjoy the game • Player-driven storytelling where your choices genuinely shape the world • Immersive worldbuilding filled with memorable NPCs, mysteries, and consequences • A balance of roleplay, exploration, and combat depending on what the group enjoys most Away from the screen I’m a happily married father to one human child and three very demanding furry ones. Fantasy has always been a huge part of my life, from books and films to music and, of course, D&D. There’s something magical about stepping into another world for a few hours and telling a story together. If you’re looking for a game where your character matters, your choices have weight, and the goal is simply to have a great adventure together, you’ll fit right in.

Character creation

Creating your character

Gundren Rockseeker is the focal point for starting the campaign and will be the reason why your character engages with the story. Regardless of the character you must have an idea why you trust Gundren enough to drop everything when he asks for your help. Anything from the RAW sources is acceptable, and anything third-party or homebrew please talk to me about it. We will complete character creation at session 0 so it would be helpful if you had a loose concept to bring to the session rather than a ready built character that may not fit the rest of the group. You will be starting at level 1 and we will be using point buy for stats.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You will need a Discord account and an external microphone to ensure you're sound is clear. You will also need a Roll20 Account You will receive the invite to my Discord Server, please ensure to fill out the before we play form.

What Spiritwood Games brings to the table

NPCs are fully voiced with their own personalities, while music and sounds help bring scenes to life. I run a reactive game where your decisions matter. The world doesn't wait for the party to act. Factions pursue their own goals, rumours spread, and the consequences of your choices, whether heroic or disastrous, can ripple through future sessions. If you solve a problem creatively instead of swinging a sword, the world will respond just as naturally. My approach balances the Rules as Written with flexibility where it enhances the story. The rules provide consistency and fairness, but I'm always happy to reward clever ideas, memorable roleplay, and inventive solutions. If your plan is unexpected, I'll look for ways to make it work rather than reasons it can't. Whether you're brand new to Dungeons & Dragons or a seasoned adventurer, you'll find a welcoming table where questions are encouraged, creativity is celebrated, and everyone has the opportunity to shape the story. Sessions are recorded so you can revisit memorable moments, with any public use always discussed and agreed upon beforehand.
