About the adventure
This is not a normal game session. This is a two-hour Mythveil seminar and workshop for Game Masters, writers, and worldbuilders who want to build long-form campaigns where player choices matter, factions react, and the world does not reset between sessions. We will focus on one central question: how do you design a campaign that remembers what the players did? In many campaigns, consequences vanish too quickly. The village is saved, but nothing changes. The rival is spared, but never returns. The cult is exposed, but no institution reacts. This seminar teaches a practical method for turning player decisions into lasting story echoes: social consequences, political consequences, emotional consequences, faction movement, rumours, public memory, and future complications. The goal is not to railroad your players, but to build a world that can respond honestly to them. The format is closer to a university-style seminar than a lecture. I will explain the core principles behind living-world campaign design, show concrete examples from long-form RPG play, and then open the discussion for practical application. You may bring a campaign idea, a problem from your own table, or a player decision you want to make matter later. We will look at how one meaningful choice can create five future consequences without overwhelming the Game Master. This seminar is system-agnostic and useful for Dungeons & Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, Delta Green, Vampire, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Cyberpunk, Fallout, and other long-form campaigns. It is for people who enjoy atmosphere, consequence, mystery, political tension, horror, character drama, and worlds with memory. You do not need to be an expert Game Master. You only need curiosity and the desire to build campaigns that feel alive long after the session ends.

For decades, I’ve run story-driven campaigns. Today, I run Mythveil Chronicles: a world that continues after you act Built on: real history myth and belief player behaviour system continuity At my table: You don’t just play. 👉 You leave a mark. Most campaigns fade. This one doesn’t.

Creating your character
This seminar does not use traditional character creation. Instead, we use this section as preparation for your own campaign idea. You do not need to create a player character, choose stats, pick a class, or prepare a rules build. This is a Game Master and worldbuilding seminar, not a normal play session. Before the seminar, you may bring one of the following: A campaign idea you want to develop. A setting, town, faction, villain, mystery, or conflict you are working on. A player decision from one of your own games that you want to turn into long-term consequences. A problem from your campaign, such as a world that feels too static, factions that do not react enough, or player choices that disappear between sessions. During the workshop section, we will use selected examples from the group and develop them together. The focus is on turning ideas into campaign structures: consequences, factions, rumours, social pressure, emotional stakes, and future story echoes. No system knowledge is required. You can bring material from Dungeons & Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, Delta Green, Vampire, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Cyberpunk, Fallout, or your own homebrew setting. If you do not have a campaign idea yet, that is completely fine. You can simply join, listen, take notes, and work with the examples discussed during the seminar.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Please join the Discord server before the seminar. The live session will take place there, and we will use Discord for voice, discussion, questions, and any shared links or follow-up material. You do not need Roll20, Foundry, D&D Beyond, or any other virtual tabletop for this seminar. This is not a normal game session, and no character sheet is required. Before the seminar, please prepare one of the following if you want active feedback: A campaign idea you are currently developing. A town, faction, villain, mystery, or setting concept you want to deepen. A player decision from one of your own games that you want to turn into long-term consequences. A campaign problem you are struggling with, such as static worlds, weak factions, forgotten consequences, or players not feeling connected to the setting. This preparation is optional. You can also attend simply to listen, take notes, and learn from the examples discussed during the seminar. Recommended preparation: Bring something to take notes with. Think of one campaign choice that should matter later. Be ready to discuss ideas respectfully with the group. No rules knowledge is required. The seminar is system-agnostic and useful for D&D, Call of Cthulhu, Delta Green, Vampire, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Cyberpunk, Fallout, and homebrew campaigns.
What Dunchan Hunter brings to the table
I will provide a structured two-hour live seminar with clear teaching, practical examples, and guided discussion. This is not a normal game session, so there will be no tactical combat, character voices, battle maps, or virtual tabletop play. Instead, you can expect a focused workshop environment where we study how long-form campaigns are built, how consequences develop, and how a world can respond to player choices over time. I will provide: A clear seminar structure. Practical examples from long-form campaign design. A method for turning one player decision into multiple future consequences. Guidance on factions, rumours, NPC reactions, social pressure, political fallout, and campaign memory. Live discussion and feedback on selected participant ideas. A respectful, collaborative workshop atmosphere. My style is analytical, cinematic, and consequence-driven. I like campaigns where the world feels alive, where choices matter beyond the current scene, and where players can feel that their actions have emotional, social, political, and narrative weight. The seminar will draw on the Mythveil Chronicles approach: living worlds, atmospheric storytelling, historical and mythic layers, player agency, and campaigns that do not reset after every session. You can expect a mix of university-style seminar, practical GM coaching, and creative campaign development. The goal is not to give you abstract theory and leave you alone with it. The goal is to help you understand how to apply these ideas directly to your own campaigns. This seminar is designed so you can join at any point. Each session works as a complete two-hour seminar and workshop. You do not need to have attended a previous session, and you will not be behind if this is your first time joining. The core method remains accessible every time: we look at how to turn player choices into lasting consequences, living-world reactions, faction movement, rumours, emotional stakes, and future story echoes. Participants may attend once, return for later sessions, or bring a different campaign problem each time. The format is flexible: join when the topic and timing fit, take away practical tools, and use them directly in your own campaigns.

How Dunchan Hunter creates a safe table
This seminar is designed as a respectful, collaborative learning space. Although this is not a normal game session, we may discuss campaign material involving horror, violence, trauma, religion, politics, moral conflict, death, corruption, and difficult consequences in fictional worlds. These topics will be handled thoughtfully and analytically, not for shock value. Before the seminar begins, I will briefly go over expectations for respectful discussion: Participation is voluntary. You never have to share personal material. You may pass on any question or discussion prompt. Feedback should be constructive, not dismissive. Real-world sensitive topics should be handled with care. No one should be mocked for their experience level, playstyle, or campaign idea. If you bring an example from your own campaign, please keep it focused on fictional design problems rather than personal trauma or private details from your players. If a topic becomes uncomfortable, you can message me privately on Discord during the seminar, step away, or ask to move the discussion in another direction. I will respect that without requiring public explanation. For my regular campaigns, I use Lines and Veils, Session 0 expectations, and ongoing check-ins. In this seminar format, I apply the same principle in a lighter way: clear boundaries, respectful tone, voluntary participation, and space to pause or redirect if needed. The goal is to study strong, emotionally meaningful campaign design while keeping the table safe, professional, and welcoming.
