About the adventure

The World of The Witcher awaits! True peace will never come to The Continent but the call is always out for those brave, foolish or desperate enough to seek out dangerous pay. Velen in particular has always been a land of strife. In recent days the shadows seem darker, villagers act strangely or outright vanish. The local Baron has offered contracts, as well as some within Novigrad are nervous about the rumors at their border. Be you Witcher, Mage, or some other manner of agent the volatile lands of Velen and the greater lands of The Continent await!

About me

My specialty is long term campaigns. Filled with friends and foes. Dangling a half dozen plot hooks to see what the players latch onto and expand on them from there. Full of call backs and expanding on events or foreshadowing that happened months or longer. I like to design the game around what vibes best with the players and will build the plot around their interests. I'm quick with improv moments but still like to have an over all plot to things, making me more skilled at sandboxes than linear paths. You can expect a good mix of everything from absurd humor to visceral horror, occasionally in the same scene. Adventure and new companions await in my games. Come have a good time! Custom booking is available and the price subject to change based on what you're looking for!

Character creation

Creating your character

You don't have to create a character ahead of session 0 but will need one before the first session. Session 0 is also free. If you don't like the vibe of myself or the rest of the group no harm, no foul. Note: I will not accept characters made with AI. Please make a character on your own. I would much prefer 3-4 real lines than pages of AI generated content. Characters will start at whatever level fits the campaign, using either the 2014 or 2024 rules. I personally prefer and know the 2014 version better but don't mind either. We'll hold a session 0 and have a discord server for anything and everything Campaign related. I'll work with each player to build out their character. If you're a new player just let me know and I'll be happy to walk you through the process. Anything official is up for use. I don't mess with homebrew character options much. Character sheets will be hosted on roll20 but if you have a personal method, D&D beyond or a physical sheet, you can use that to track things. I'd just need the roll20 sheet and the personal method to match up.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A mic is required, but a camera isn't. Personal choice to use a camera or not. You'll need roll20 and discord accounts as well.

What Dungeon Keeper Andy brings to the table

I've been making worlds since my high school days. Back then we only had a Player's Handbook for 3.5 and the only adventures we could make were our own. So running custom and sandbox games are my bread and butter. Its where I shine and have the most fun. NPCs to love and loathe! I try to make npcs stand out with speech mannerisms, accents and a wide range of alignments. Each NPC with a speaking role (meaning anyone other than the inn keeper you're getting a room from and crossing guards at gates) each have a personality all their own. Music is usually played during sessions, general ambient tracks to fit the setting and/or situation. When running combat I like to make it a challenge but not overwhelming. Some monsters will play to the party's strengths while others will be included to prod at weaknesses. Combat is where I like to stick to rules the hardest but even then might bend on a few things here and there. Under no condition will sexual content be described or roleplayed.

Homebrew rules

Reroll 1s and 2s on hit die increases. If you roll a 2 twice in a row you've gotta keep it. If I as the DM cause something to happen in the story that is genuinely upsetting to you or just something you'd rather not have described/happen again just let me know and I'll make sure it doesn't come up again. During a Short Rest, characters with a Prepared Spells list can change out Prepared spells with any other spell they have available of the same level. Spell Scrolls can be used by anyone. They are tools like any other.
