About the adventure

A wondrous and bizarre carnival has come to town with creatures and sights that exist only in the planes beyond. Every carnival has it's secrets are you willing to brave the consequences of uprooting the dark secrets of the Witchlight Carnival? An adventure that captures the essence of the Feywild with fun and whimsy, but also dangerous and not without it's darker sides. Adventurers who join this campaign may encounter fairies, witches, and more. Look forward to exploring a variety of wild environments including marshes, forests, tundra, and maybe even a castle or two? Adventurers who enjoy talking their way out of trouble just as much as enjoying a good fight will likely enjoy this game. There are hidden secrets, some minor puzzles, but most of all it will be an epic quest.

Character creation

Creating your character

I like to be available to assist the party with character creation that will happen during Session Zero. I recommend bringing 3 or more character concepts that you'll think will be fun to play and we'll go from there. Typically I prefer and recommend rolled stats, four d6 drop the lowest, but don't mind if players would rather use Standard Array or Point Buy. Unless anyone has objections the characters will be generated, tracked, and stored on DnDBeyond for the duration of the campaign. No minimum knowledge required, but reading the player's guide helps. I would also recommend that players do not read the Wild Beyond the Witchlight as it contains spoilers and that could sour the game for the group.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Player's will need a Discord, DnDBeyond, and Roll20 account to use the tools I plan to utilize for this campaign.

What Wil brings to the table

-DnDBeyond Campaign link w/ shared resources -Roll20 interactive maps and tokens -Discord for communication (does need a microphone, but no camera needed)

Homebrew rules

Modified Critical Hits: Player still rolls damage normally and then adds the potential max value to the amount rolled. When a player rolls a critical hit it should be exciting and this homebrew rule ensures that poor damage rolls won't deflate the excitement of getting a critical hit.

Safety

How Wil creates a safe table

During Session Zero we will cover "Lines and Veils" (aka non-negotiable off-limit topics) and throughout the campaign we will take breaks as needed, either to stretch legs or to do a quick decompress. As well as have a debriefing after each session to ensure the game is on track to being comfortable and fun for the players.
