About the adventure
For those who wish to make an experience that's truly their own, this simple campaign is for you. You can be a new player, or a returning player who wants to experience the earlier levels of D&D. However, you must be 18 or older. My games are made by me, but made for my players' enjoyment first, and foremost. Now... let me paint a detailed picture for you regarding "Secrets Of Grayhawk". At the heart of the Empire Of Alickai, rests the wondrous city of entertainment known as Greathaven. The Halls of Revelry hold some of the most luxurious Casinos, wondrously lavish restaurants, and, of course, rather lecherous brothels. Within those halls, you go in with coin, and leave with nothing, but flowery memories. Your part in this story does not start within those halls... rather you'll be newly minted adventurers with just a few small quests under your belt. At the start, you'll be hand picked by Adventuring Guild officials to be placed on an overtly important mission. You'll serve as guard detail for a rather important establishment owner for the Halls Of Revelry as they throw a lavish party. During this mission, you'll be bumping shoulders with a bunch of important nobles, and politicians. While you could indulge in the pleasantries of the party, you'll soon realize why this mission is so important, and learn secrets that if they got out... would cause mass panic. Upon learning these secrets, you'll become acutely aware of who else knows, who doesn't know, and who might be planning something vicious. It's a rather role-play, and exploration heavy game where the goal is to learn as many secrets as you can to, either, help the city of Greathaven survive the decade, or further your own goals. Combat is, and always will be, a constant as many factions will want you dead for simply knowing too much, and other circumstances may arise that require you to raise your sword. As I mentioned, I tailor my games to my players, and the story they wish to play that first spins off the idea I present. I run with milestone leveling, and often sprinkle in as much of my player's backstory as I can. Additionally, I view D&D 5e's system as highly customizable with plenty of variant rules of my own that I can add to spice up the game if all my players agree to them. Creativity, and fun over rigid rules any day. If you wish to pay-to-play a social mystery exploration game that's highly customizable to your liking, you know what to do!

About me
A creative mind that wants to open my own world up for the people so that they may enjoy this wonderful hobby. I'm a presenting male who holds great pride in their careful session prep, and grand attentiveness towards my players. I'm offering a player/fun first approach where the cooperative narrative my players wish to tell comes first. I've created a lore-rich world over the years, and wish to delve into it's secrets with new players who will develop their own characters, and become apart of that ever expansive world. This is the world of Valier, where the world itself seems to be alive. My goal for each game is to allow each player to fully immerse themselves in their characters, and tell the story they want to. Offering many ways to further enhance your particular character fantasy, from uniquely created items to custom features just for your character. I will mainly be running short campaigns set in my homebrew world of Valier, but I'll also be hosting a few one-shots, and running a few D&D 5E modules. Though, again, all my games are built for my players! Would you like to join me for a spell? Experience the wonders of roleplay, and forever be written into the history of Valier.

Creating your character
First things first, we'll start with a Session 0 where I'll verbally go over everything from the setting to character creation. I'll invite you to my private RP Server that I share with my friends, and you'll be able to talk amongst yourselves. This is where Session 0 will be held. Now, regarding creating your characters: There is only one official way to create your character: On FoundryVTT. During Session 0, I'll invite you to a FoundryVTT server for the game you'll be playing in, and you'll be able to fully make your character. If you want to use features from other books, or homebrew, do let me know, and I'll find those features for your or make them myself. However, if you're hoping to play a fully vanilla character things will be completely smooth sailing. During Session 0, we'll handle more important parts of Character Creation. I'll have the option of Standard Array, Point Buy and Rolling For Stats open for all to pick & choose. I'm forgiving when it comes to Rolling For Stats, and they will be done in the open for all to see. Stats gained from Racial Features will be equalized, meaning you're picking a race not for the stats, but for the abilities it provides. Either the abilities, or because it fits with your character idea. By equalized, I mean you all will get a minor bonus to whichever stats you wish. For SoG, your starting level is 2nd Level as you're slightly established Adventurers in the city of Greathaven, and the surrounding territory. I'll provide short notes about the world at large to allow you to create characters that could come from almost anywhere on the map. Additionally, I'll provide links to an extensive lore document for those who enjoy reading, and want more background context. As for the limits of what you can make: Almost anything, simply just ask. The basic 2014 Core Rulebook is the starting point, while the 2024 Core Rulebook is a no for now. For stuff that spins off of the 2014 Core Rulebook, run it by me, and you'll, most likely, get the go ahead. The world is massive, filled with wonder, and magic, you may create a character that reflects the world or a character that wishes to defy it. Either way, I'll tailor my game to each character, weaving in their themes all the same.
Anyone is free to join! If you're looking for a roleplay & player first game then this group, and table shall be great for you!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You need an account on Discord to actively participate in my games. You will add me as a friend on Discord once you've shown interest, there we'll introduce ourselves and after I'll give you an invite to my server where the Campaign will be hosted. On this server you'll only have access to the few channels that are dedicated to the Campaign you've joined. It'll be the main general channel, another for features regarding the campaign, another with character information, and a rolling channel for rolling Dice using a bot when not on FoundryVTT. Lastly, there's a voice channel where we'll have our sessions, it'll be voice-only, with no camera access. As for FoundryVTT, that'll be our playground. I'll have various maps prepared, character tokens made for both players, and NPCs with art provided by the players or found online. I solmenly swear to not generate any art using Artificial Intelligence, but I may mistakenly use it for an NPC. Inform me, and I will change the art for them. You'll be able to roll freely on FoundryVTT, and move your own character token around to explore the space, or enjoy combat. Additionally, I use various modules on FoundryVTT to make the playing experience smoother, and much more game-like for a more, overall, fun experience.
What Token Marshall brings to the table
I follow both the rule of Storytelling, and the rule of cool. For every game I host, there's a story I'm telling that does not have a good conclusion. It is up to my players to either right that wrong or improve their own lives while the world falls apart around them. During each game, there are countless characters you'll meet along your journey. Any very important ones having a special voice done by myself, or perhaps an added voice effect through Voice-mod if they're magnificent enough. However, that is a rarity. Over the course of every scene I utilize various playlists that I've found to enhance the game, and since I use a Discord Bot to do so, you may customize the volume to your liking. From beautiful ren fair-like music tracks to songs that'll make you feel battle ready; I have a playlist for almost any situation. For Combat, I have a few house rules that allow for a lot more freedom during the game making for a more enjoyable, and engaging experience for all my players. I do not run a Combat-First game, and it'll usually take a backseat to other aspects of the game, but that does not mean I neglect it. My combats will still be engaging, story-heavy combats will be intense, and all combats will allow for tactical uses of resources to make out a win for your side. Combats are never senseless number crunching time sinks, they're important story telling beats that have real consequences later in the game depending on what you choose to focus on. You must be wise during combat. As always, I run each game for my players, and if they so wish I'll change it up to make the game more enjoyable for them.
Homebrew rules
I am a homebrew heavy DM, and a lot of my games have homebrew baked in. I have a unique fantasy setting I created myself, and have various variant rules I've made, custom tailored to the D&D 5e that both me, and my players wanted to play. However, I won't throw all of my HB rules at you in hopes you love them. Instead, I'll show you the basic rules, ones I can't do with out, and will be apart of the game regardless; then I'll offer some of my favorite rules for you all, as players, to vote on including. Here are some rules I use for Character Creation which allow for a lot more freedom. Whenever you create your character you may just add a +2 to whichever stat you choose instead of getting it from your Race. Next, is offering a free Feat at 1st Level with a few feats on an ignore list. Next, is having a minimum amount of HP gained per level, no more 1s or 2s on HP Gains. Last one I'll mention for Character Creation, is something I call Personal Features in which every 4 levels you get a unique feature that's entirely your own created by me. Here's a basic example: At 4th level, a player of mine got the ability to increase the range of their healing abilities, and choose an additional target for them allowing for Cure Wounds to heal two people from 30 feet away! Some basic House Rules I use are allowing Health Potions to be drank as a Bonus Action, better Critical Hits, and allowing skill checks to be used during combat to gain a lot of bonus information! Here are some house rules that I'm proud of, that seem to be much less common. "Cleaving & Barreling" which allows for excessive damage to an enemy to transfer over to another nearby enemy. Lastly, many conditions in D&D 5e act as turn skips instead of something more flavorful, I've modified some conditions allowing for some actions to still be taken so if you're stunned, you're not just out of the game for a full round. All house rules will be discussed in-depth during the game. Homebrew is my bread, and butter, if there's anything you'd like, I'll customize the game for your experience!

How Token Marshall creates a safe table
During Session 0, I'll go over the various different safety tools that I use for my games. I will present my Lines and Veils whilst providing a checklist of topics that each must provide consent before it can be showcased at all during the game. Additionally, I'll always keep in mind, as while letting it be known, that it's all just a game, one we play for a personalized fun experience. I will send a link to my own Lines & Veils, additionally I shall include a checklist that shall have checkboxes. These will also be included in the Player's Guide.
