About the adventure
The gods have died, and the world they left behind is freezing. Following a brutal, two-year volcanic winter that starved out your civilization, a relentless undead apocalypse has destroyed your homes and taken your families. Preceded by an ominous, glowing red haze on the horizon, massive hordes of the lifeless bodies drag themselves out of the oceans to desecrate what remains of the living. What's left of your city doesn't have much longer for this world. What will be left of your desperate tribe is in survival mode, constantly on the move within the shadows of a ruined world. The heart of our story will focus on your characters, your personal goals, and the consequences of your choices as you fight to protect all you have left. - This campaign will be a hybrid between a PbP and a live-online campaign! While you are not required to participate in both, it is highly encouraged. Join for one or the other, or join for both! The live campaign will focus on leadership, protection, and navigation, while the PbP will focus more on politics, survival, and morale. Both stories will be intertwined and follow the same refugee tribe's journey.

About me
Hello, my name is Lauren (IGN: Osi), and I’ve been a storyteller all my life and a tabletop RPG player since 2018. After discovering the joy of the game in college, I jumped headfirst into running my own games as soon as I was comfortable with the DnD 5e system. I am currently learning other systems as well in hopes of widening my horizons…! As an avid daydreamer and artist (I am also a licensed art educator), the world of TTRPGs allowed me to funnel my overloaded creative mind into a healthy outlet that not only brings me joy, but allowed me to bring endless entertainment to my friends- and hopefully one day, you!

Creating your character
We'll start by jumping into our community Discord server to collaborate with me and your fellow players on worldbuilding, party cohesion, and character concepts. From there, you will fill out my official Google Doc Backstory Template and share it with me for approval. Characters are created entirely before the campaign begins and will start at Level 1 unless specified otherwise. For stats, you must use either Point Buy or the Standard Array, as rolling for attributes is not permitted. The entire character creation process is handled in three steps before Session 1, beginning with the mandatory Player Questionnaire so we can establish our table's safety boundaries and gameplay preferences. Finally, you will build your actual character sheet using the DnDBeyond campaign link provided in Discord. You only need a free, basic DnDBeyond account; my Master Tier subscription will automatically unlock all official, setting-appropriate sourcebooks for you to use. Just keep in mind that third-party Homebrew and Unearthed Arcana (UA) are strictly prohibited.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
To join our campaign, you will need to have active access to the following three platforms. Please ensure these are set up before our first session: 1. Discord Account: All out-of-game communication, scheduling, and sessions take place within my community Discord server. Once you join, this is where we will collaborate on backstories, discuss worldbuilding, and organize our party dynamic. 2. DnDBeyond Account: We utilize DnDBeyond for character sheets and digital rolling. You only need a free, basic account. Because I have a Master Tier subscription, I will provide you with a campaign link that unlocks content-sharing, granting you free access to all official sourcebooks for character creation. 3. Google Account: A Google account is required to complete the mandatory Player Questionnaire and to access, edit, and share your character's Backstory Template.
What Lauren brings to the table
A wonderfully immersive, reactive, and highly organized Play by Post (PbP) that will value your input and ideas above all else. You will be expected to engage with the story at least once every 48 hours. Combat at my table is difficult and purposeful, but in a PbP, it will be minimal, with large fights only occurring during the scheduled live sessions. Monsters will use actual tactics, environments matter, and battles are designed to both challenge and let your character shine. Mechanically, I run a structured game built on the D&D 5e (2014) ruleset. I value consistency, so your choices always feel fair and impactful, but I'll always embrace flavor when you want to try something creative or cinematic. While I provide the overarching plot, your choices and backstory actively shape the world.
Homebrew rules
- Using a bonus action, you can drink a potion. However, it takes an action to feed someone else a potion. - Smite and rage bonuses can be added to unarmed melee attacks. - You can only give the help action in skills you are proficient in. Or, you can try to convince me to allow it. - The fall damage cap has been increased to 150d6, instead of 20d6. Don’t throw yourself off cliffs, y’all. - You can permanently scar someone if you give or receive a critical hit with a weapon or spell. This is purely aesthetic. - If you fail a death-saving throw by rolling a natural 1, you suffer a lingering injury.

How Lauren creates a safe table
Before the campaign begins, all players complete a mandatory Player Questionnaire to outline gameplay preferences, favorite themes, and specific content boundaries. During Session 0, I will establish a clear, collective summary of these agreed-upon boundaries so everyone is aligned on the lines we will not cross. In the event of active discomfort during gameplay, we utilize the safety word "PAUSE!" Anyone at the table can invoke this word to instantly halt the narrative for an immediate discussion, a scene retcon or adjustment, or a quick cooldown break, no questions asked.
