About the adventure

Within the bustling streets of Ekapt, a crisis brews. The local tavern cellar has been overrun with slimes! Desperate to keep the business up and running, the owner Dreyden has sealed the entrance to the cellar in hopes it would blow over. It didn't. Now Dreyden needs to find a way to clear out the slime before the problem gets worse! This game is designed for players new to D&D. It's a relatively simple plot to help players get used to how the game works. Both newcomers with no experience and players looking for something straightforward are welcome! The session will focus on players joining forces to explore the large slime-ridden cellar to vanquish all the slimes and anything else that might pose problems to restore the cellar and the tavern to it's usual state of operation!

About me

I've been a GM for 6+ years with an ongoing homebrew campaign running since day one. As such, I have a lot of experience with homebrew monsters, classes and mechanics. I've also been a player in a handful of campaigns, so I've seen both sides of the coin. I'm mostly familiar with DnD 5e (2014 version), but I've dabbled with a couple of other systems as well (but only as a player): Ryuutama, Vampire: The Masquerade and Genso Narratograph. I don't have experience running these systems but do have experience playing them, so I could feasibly run them as well. I've GM'd for a variety of group sizes, but typically am most comfortable with the 3-5 player range.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will be handled during session. Players are encouraged to have an idea of their character in mind before session. Players will be filling out and creating their own character sheets on Roll20 during session, but for players who may get overwhelmed with character creation, some pre-filled character sheets can be provided (but should be asked for ahead of time).

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players should have a Discord and Roll20 account and should be able to join a private Discord server where Yeelp hosts their StartPlaying games.

What Yeelp brings to the table

The session will stick close to rules as written so new players can understand how the game works. There will be dungeon crawling and combat aspects once the players delve into the cellar. Combat will be simple and forgiving, but there will be some moments where the stakes are raised to keep things interesting. Maps are kept mostly simple to convey the layout as opposed to being a complex environment, but theater of the mind descriptions will be used to convey finer details. The session is run with background music and combat music played through a music bot on Discord (players can mute it if they wish).

Homebrew rules

- Potions can be drunk as a bonus action. - Downed characters do not count as Prone. - The spell Silvery Barbs is banned. - Optional features and spell lists and are allowed and encouraged. - UA content is allowed, but must receive DM approval first.

Safety

How Yeelp creates a safe table

I encourage open dialogue at the table. If something or someone isn't making you comfortable, you are allowed to speak up about it! Players are also allowed to message me directly if they aren't comfortable speaking up. My whole goal is to create a fun table! If you aren't having fun, then I would much rather fix that problem than continue. Because this is a one-shot, I will make it clear that it is up to the players to be proactive in advocating for anything they are uncomfortable with (since although there will be a mild after session discussion, bringing problems up after the one-shot is over is a little too late!)
