About the adventure

One hive. Billions of lives. More crimes than the law can count. You are Adeptus Arbites and other Imperial specialists assigned to a vast Imperial hive city where murder is routine, records can be weaponised and powerful families believe the Lex Imperialis applies only to other people. Investigate killings, dismantle criminal empires, confront corrupt officials and carry the Emperor’s law into districts that have forgotten His name. Each case lasts roughly one to three sessions, but nothing resets when it closes. Arresting a gang leader creates a power vacuum. Protecting an informant may build a valuable ally—or place an entire district in danger. A brutal victory can restore order tonight and ignite an uprising next month. Your decisions change factions, neighbourhoods and the institutions meant to support you. Behind the individual crimes lies the Black Docket: a trail of false identities, vanished prisoners, illegal experiments and corrupted records stretching beyond the hive and across Imperial worlds. Whether it proves to be organised crime, institutional treason or something less human will depend on what your unit uncovers—and what it chooses to bury. This is a long-term, adult Wrath & Glory campaign combining investigation, political pressure, social conflict and dangerous action. Expect a living city, difficult verdicts, black humour and consequences that remember you.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters are created together during a guided Session 0. The campaign uses official Wrath & Glory rules and the Adeptus Arbites options from Lex Imperialis, including roles such as Arbitrator, Castigator, Chirurgant, Revelatum, Leashmaster and Proctor-Exactant. The group will form a functioning Arbites-led unit at Tier 2, with room for other Imperial specialists who fit the campaign’s law-enforcement mandate. Each character will define their duty, origin, interpretation of the Lex, one institutional contact and one relationship already under strain. New players are welcome. No previous Wrath & Glory or Warhammer 40,000 experience is required.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

You need a stable internet connection, a microphone, headphones and access to Discord. Foundry VTT runs in your browser; no software purchase is required. Before your first case, you will receive a concise setting briefing, character guidance and the campaign safety checklist. No extensive Warhammer lore knowledge is expected.

What Dunchan Hunter brings to the table

I provide the official Wrath & Glory Foundry environment, maps, handouts, atmospheric music and evolving investigation material. The hive is tracked as a living network of districts, gangs, houses, authorities, informants and public unrest. Cases can be approached through investigation, negotiation, surveillance, institutional pressure or force. Failed rolls will not simply stop an investigation; they create costs, complications and dangerous choices. The campaign is built around player agency rather than a linear police procedural. There are no resets between cases.

Homebrew rules

The campaign follows Wrath & Glory rules with light Mythveil procedures for clue handling, faction pressure and lasting city consequences. A single failed roll will never end an investigation; important clues may instead arrive with a cost, delay or complication. Player-versus-player conflict requires everyone’s consent.

Safety

How Dunchan Hunter creates a safe table

This is a dark adult campaign, but the table remains respectful, collaborative and under player control. We establish Lines and Veils during Session 0 and keep them open for revision. During play, anyone may pause, redirect or skip a scene verbally or through chat without explanation. Breaks, Open Door, X/N/O signals, debriefing and private check-ins are available. Violence, institutional oppression and horror may be intense, but cruelty toward players is never part of the experience.
