About the adventure

Gloryanna x Ravenloft is a homebrew campaign based on the Curse of Strahd campaign but this time it links into the setting of Gloryanna! Gloryanna is an old-west, high fantasy setting! Set upon the world of Atirnos; Gloryanna is a young country experiencing the turn of the century! There's no slavery here; colonies are a few controlled handful and the indigenous peoples hold most of the population and power. At the same time; the threat of monsters, bird-like dragons; all manner of dark entities and the ever present greed of mankind threaten this wild and free land. This is a weekly campaign inside my setting of Gloryanna at the beginning and will then transfer over into Ravenloft, (Curse of Strahd). The overall story and direction will be based on the characters you create and bring into the world! Expect a lot of roleplay, plenty of danger and spooky horrors. New players and experienced players are welcome! All players will receive a free copy of Gloryanna: The First Volley as well a character portrait drawn by me, (if you want one). My table is for everyone to have fun! As your DM, I will take lengths to respect your needs and boundaries. (Check the Safety section for more information).

About me

Hello! I'm Winston, aka: Lewinston Illustration. I've been running 5th Edition D&D for over 5 years for Adventurer's League and also my own homebrew 5E game for about the same length of time. I also like playing other systems! Some of my favourites being Feng Shui 2; Kids on Bikes and Gamma World, (yes, the old 4th Edition game). As an artist, I like drawing my own characters and I also create my own homebrew content. I'm also the author of 'Gloryanna: The First Volley'.

Character creation

Creating your character

This game uses the 2024 5th Edition D&D ruleset! If you there's a 2014 option that has not yet been updated to the 2024 ruleset then you can use the 2014 version of that option instead. You'll be making a level 1 character, (or a character who's level matches that of the rest of the party). On Roll20, you will roll 4d6 and drop the lowest result. You will do this 6 times in a row and records these numbers. If you want to, you also roll like this a seventh time to try and replace the lowest total result. This is for your stats. If you're a bit confused let me know and we'll cover it over the microphone. Hit points can be rolled if you're brave or you can use averages. I don't mind either. For Homebound Features from 'Gloryanna: The First Volley' please do not power scale! The Homebound Features are bound to your characters backstory and will be used as part of the campaign. You will choose 1 Homebound Feature from the book when your done making your character, (the book being 'Gloryanna: The First Volley' which will be provided to you). ie: If you like a Homebound Feature that is to be part of the Salikwayayi but your character is from the Sea Dragon Continent I will ask you to make that make sense. If you can do it in a proper way, there's no issue but if you can't then I'll ask you to choose another. All the subclasses, player species, feats, spells and items in 'Gloryanna: The First Volley' are available to you for your character creation! You can also use anything from any previously officially released 5E D&D book. Any homebrew outside of that is acceptable based on review from both me and the other players.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A good quality microphone/gaming headset. A good webcam is optional! Be sure to have or create an account for Roll20. Also be sure to install Discord and have an account on it. Do you have enough money for groceries? Double check your schedule and your income. I want people to have a good time but I don't want them going broke because of it. Check your schedules! Do you have enough time to play? Any big events coming up where you might have to drop out? Be sure. If you're ready to play, I will send you a link to my Discord server.

What DM Lewinston brings to the table

If you join my campaign, you all get a free copy of 'Gloryanna: The First Volley', (my book). It's a player's primer! Every option in that book is available to you as a player. If you'd like to bring in other homebrew material, bring it up with me first and I'll let you know if you can use it or not. For joining my game, I'll also create a character token for you for FREE, (if you want one that is). I will have something in mind for the story of the game! But I will also be utilizing your character backstories into the campaign as well. I use bad voice acting; I use rule of cool quite liberally and I stand by the saying that if players can do it, so can the DM. Combat will sometimes be theatre or the mind and sometimes there will be battle maps. I'll also be utilizing ambient music during the game. Almost all maps and artwork within this game are made by me and no AI is ever used. I have own app for keeping track of initiative and stat blocks! But if you prefer I roll on the Roll20 table, I can do that for you as well.

Homebrew rules

Everything found in 'Gloryanna: The First Volley' is usable in this game. Other homebrew is allowed upon review.

Safety

How DM Lewinston creates a safe table

Lines and veils are essentially a session 0 event! Basically, I will take note of things that you; as a player, do NOT want to see happen or appear in this game and I'll take lengths to avoid those things happening. If you forget something, don't worry as I'll also be using X cards. During the game, if you're very uncomfortable with the way a scene is head, drop a card down and I'll know to stop and dial something back. We'll also be taking breaks! I want to be clear that my table is a place for everyone to have fun. I'm respectful to my players needs and boundaries and I expect the same from my players in return. If you have an issue with players at my table because they may be of a different gender, romantic orientation, culture, ethnicity or religion; you will not welcome at this table.
