About the adventure
Welcome to The Caldera, a region made isolated by its difficult terrain, a home to peoples not often seen beyond its treacherous mountain ranges. Much is rumored of this place, and those that have seen the ruined spires of long overgrown ruins in the heart of its sprawling forest have few answers to tell. A call has gone out among the villages. Mistchase needs help to find a missing caravan that was carrying important supplies. What will you find when you answer the call? And how far will you go in your search? This is a Homebrew, regional Open World setting that is run on a base of 5e Mechanics, to be run over Discord as the main hub and the VTT Owlbear Rodeo for major battles and significant events. All relevant lore and maps will be easily accessible in the discord as well as side features like a designated In Character Chat run with Tupperbox, regularly updated Story Notes, Notable NPC Tracking, and more! This game is Beginner Friendly, but open to players of all experience levels who are interested in a new setting with plenty to explore and many mysteries to uncover! This is a Story Driven game with emphasis on interactions with characters and the world around them, with infrequent combat and a Milestone Leveling system. The Session Zero will go over the general lore of the region, character building, discussion of the general themes of this story, Safety Tools that will be in place, Conduct of The Table, and a more in-depth checklist of themes and elements that may or may not appear to better ensure the comfort of Players.

About me
Hello! I'm Kami, and I'm an avid worldbuilder who greatly enjoys taking full advantage of the wild variety available in fantasy settings. I love to have open worlds full of history, side-events, mystery, and room for plenty of exploration. I run entirely homebrew worlds and stories using 5e, or Pathfinder, as a base framework to navigate the world. I love to encourage my players in taking the "unusual" route and working with them to find ways to make their character concepts for with the world of the campaign. Oftentimes, this allows me to expand more on my own writings and find any oversights in them as a side benefit to bringing these characters to life! I love to use music as a layer of my storytelling, running liet motif through Kenku to add more depth to each city, battle, or scene. I love to expand on the potential of certain rules and spells, and delight in seeing what uses a player may devise. I often discuss with the table my particular reasoning as each case comes up. I always gear my games to be very beginner friendly, and encourage questions about mechanics and the world itself. I'm also a very prolific writer of side-content that players can find in the course of their travels, which I make freely available to the group as they're found. I will also write side pieces for PCs upon request if they have to be away from the group for some length of time. If you're new, or just looking for another game, I hope you'll come to my Table!

Creating your character
Character Creation will be outlined during the Session Zero with the stat spread generation of 4d6 Drop Lowest with the starting level being Level 1. During this Session Zero, it is highly encouraged to run character ideas by me, and any book can be referred to, including 3rd party material so long as I have a way to access the materials to get an idea of balance. The concept of "Inherently Evil" Species does not exist in my writings, so the options for character creation are limited only by 'motivation' and creativity. Questions of how the character may fit into the world, information of the cities they lived in, and the roles of the Gods will be answered and further are highly encouraged.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you need to play this game are accounts on Discord and Owlbear Rodeo (which is free and works on Mobile as well as it does on Desktop!) Invites to both the Discord Server and the Owlbear Rodeo Room will be provided.
What Kami brings to the table
I greatly enjoy really getting into the characters and lean heavily into Character Voices, going as far as even developing distinct languages and accents to add depth (learning these languages is not required, and most are still fragmentary) I use music as a layer of my storytelling, using Kenku.FM to stream music during the sessions, and have a playlist of covers and other themes for just that purpose. Battles are infrequent, but major Battles can be quite challenging and approached many different ways, so taking time to strategize before engaging can change a lot about the battle to come! I often lean more towards "Rule of Cool", encouraging my players to find interesting ways to apply mechanics and spells, or ways to get around them. If you can make a good case for it, the odds are very good that I'll be all for it!
