About the adventure

🎭 The Show Must Go On... Even if it Kills You. A string of gruesome disappearances leads your party to a long-condemned Opera House—home to a forbidden masterpiece that drives all who hear it mad. To stop the grand finale, you must breach the theater, hunt down the cultists behind this "Magnum Opus," and face aberrations from beyond the stars. Will you purge the world of this cosmic rot, or will you become part of the choir? ⚡ Why Play At This Table? Zero Math, Pure Heroics: Powered by deep Foundry VTT automation. I handle the heavy software lifting behind the scenes so your Level 8 turn flows lightning-fast. Perfect for players new to Foundry! Cinematic Combat Animations: Every sword swing, fireball, and eldritch blast fires custom visual effects across the battlemap. Immersive Atmosphere: High-effort voice acting, dynamic lighting transitions, and a custom dark ambient soundtrack. A Forgotten Realms Thriller: A high-level Lovecraftian mystery woven seamlessly into Faerûn’s deep lore.

About me

I've been my friends forever GM since 3.5 and 1e pathfinder and have loved doing it! During Covid, I really started to enjoy playing DnD using Foundry and Roll20, being able to draw up my own maps and tokens without an expensive trip to the game shop. I focus on running official modules and one shots to make things a bit easier while I draw up my own custom campaign based on things that my players enjoy! My style tends to be survival and RP heavy sessions instead of just gathering numbers, and I really enjoy gothic/dark settings. My first question to you as a player will always be "What are you comfortable with and what is a hard limit" to ensure everyone is comfortable and having a fun time, and the end of sessions will most often be me asking for feedback on my performance as a DM so I can always improve. I am also a streamer (a VTuber nonetheless) but sessions will NOT be streamed/recorded without unanimous consent from the group.

Character creation

Creating your character

Your character needs to be ready before the session. Stats are rolled using roll 4d6 drop the lowest (If your total skill modifier is less than 0, the character needs to be re-rolled). The characters will be made in DnD Beyond, for which I will provide the link, using only the core rulebooks. I will also provide a link to join the Discord so you can join the voice chat during game time. Finally, I will send you the link to connect to the game and your credentials as well.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Understand the basics of how to play in foundry. Be prepared to use Discord for voice calls, so have your mic setup and stable internet connection. Camera is optional. (The link will be provided.) Have a DnDBeyond account. A free account will work as you can still create a character and link it to the campaign.

What Maulerant brings to the table

I will be voicing all the characters in the campaign to the best of my ability. There will also be ambient music to set the mood of the scenes, and fight music for the combat scenes. I embrace the Rule of Cool at my table to keep things fun and interesting as long as it doesn't ruin the mood for the other players. The game is heavily automated to keep combat smooth and fast, and I've also incorporated several modules to gamify it even further than traditional Foundry. I will give the players plenty of time to role play amongst themselves, but will still use safety tools to ensure that the table is being safe and secure. I do this to facilitate a safe space for all my players to be themselves and be comfortable role-playing, especially if it's their first time.

Homebrew rules

I use hidden death saves. You'll know your down, but the others won't know how long they have to get to you. I also use secret rolls for other skills, such as stealth, and will tell you what you're character feels is going on. This streamlines a few of the more annoying parts of the game and keeps it suspenseful. For example "I feel i'm substantially hidden, but am I still visible?"

Safety

How Maulerant creates a safe table

Lines and Veils will be discussed and agreed upon at the start of the session. There are safety tools built into my Foundry for players that I'll explain in detail. I've also got open DM's for my players if they need something addressed privately. I'm there to run a game, but I'm also there to keep the space safe and will make my best calls with proper communication.
