About the adventure

Guardians of Heart is your chance to tell a story of friendship and hope, where emotions like anger and despair become monsters you're destined to defeat! ★ Based on stories like Kingdom Hearts and Sailor Moon! Your character has inherited magical power that they must keep hidden from the world. They fight in secret to protect the ones they love. But, they don't fight alone. Other heroes have emerged, and only as a team can you hope to push back the darkness ★ Girl By Moonlight is a system that maximizes drama! Failure and heartbreak are just as likely as triumph or redemption. Not only will you face off against supernatural dangers, but you'll also resist the struggles of your character's normal life and the risk of disaster when the two collide! Among it all, your character will find ways to connect and be themself. ★ A narrative-focused game with rules and stakes Girl by Moonlight gives structure to the often murky process of roleplay. The system offers built-in parameters to help build your connections to the characters of other players, and rewards you for acting on them! A friend's betrayal can cut as deeply as a monster's fangs, and a helping hand can cure wounds of the body and heart. ★ A story you shape! Using systems from Blades in the Dark, you can see and measure your character's progress towards their goals. But, the villains aren't sitting by! Your success and choices in missions has a measurable effect on their schemes, and you can watch and plan as threats tick forward towards the campaign's climax. The setting is also designed to be shaped by players, with guidance for custom NPC's that are developed and intwined with your character. ★ No experience needed Newcomers to Girl by Moonlight are more than welcome! This campaign will be an excellent opportunity to learn and try out the system. Newcomers to Kingdom Hearts, have no fear! No prior knowledge of the series will be required to immerse yourself in the campaign. Looking forward to having you along for the journey!

About me

Hi there! Since my first homebrew D&D 5e campaign in 2015, I have loved every moment of being a game master. I live for the times where the game comes alive and both the players and I can’t wait to see what happens next. In addition to Dungeons and Dragons, I've also had a great time exploring new genres through systems like Monster of the Week and Avatar: Legends, and can’t wait to use even more games to share everything the hobby has to offer. My proudest moments as a DM have been guiding new players as they find their voice, watching them embrace the suspense and laughter of a game. The most fun moments for me are giving voice to NPCs that delight the table and finding ways to give players' actions weight and create ripples in the broader world that come back to drive the story. As a trans woman, I also love the potential of ttrpgs as an opportunity to explore identity! It was a wonderful way for me to test the waters before first sharing who I really am with the world. With the moderation of safety tools, it can be so much fun to explore a different side of yourself, whether you are just beginning to question or are settled and comfortable in your gender and who you are. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or just beginning to explore tabletop roleplaying games, I’m looking forward to our next adventure together!

Character creation

Creating your character

I'll provide the character playbooks (classes) and other materials that you need to make a character, which everyone will make during session zero. However, feel free to come with ideas and archetypes you think would make for a fun character!

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The game will be hosted over discord, and dice rolls can be made either on discord or using physical dice. No other signups needed! I’ll provide all of the play materials you need through a google drive link.

What Brooke - Wrathanet brings to the table

My goal as the Director of this game is to create an immersive experience, through music, voiced characters, and ongoing storylines shaped by the choices of the players. The rules in this game are guidelines, to put your character to the test and tempt them with dangerous choices, but also to be bent for moments of triumph! For this game, narrative and collaboration is everything! As we play, you can add details and features to the setting to make for the best story (although you may need to roll to see how well those details fall in your favor!)

Safety

How Brooke - Wrathanet creates a safe table

As part of session zero, I will ensure all players have an opportunity to send me an RPG consent checklist confirming lines, veils, and acceptable topics. Additionally, at any time players can type into the chat to indicate an X, N, or O card or a raised hand: X: The scene has reached a hard line and needs to stop N: The scene is approaching a hard line or veil - shift the scene, fade to black, or conclude with a non-detailed description O: You are happy to keep going Raised hand: When possible, you'd like to join the scene We will plan for a halfway break to give everyone a chance to decompress and decide their path forward. Lastly, I will include time for end-of-session decompression/aftercare as well as stars and wishes to ensure I am meeting players' expectations and comfort level with game material.
