About the adventure
You have gathered in Palebank Village for the funeral of a friend who has died of a mysterious illness. Find the cause, search for the source, and discover a cure before others, possibly even yourself, suffer the same fate. Game Details: • We will use the DnD 5.5e (2024) rules for this campaign • Expect it to run between 4 and 8 sessions long and run from level 1 to level 3. • Game play, character sheets, and visuals will be on Roll20 • Voice and ambient music will be on Discord. • Expect a mix of role play, exploration, and combat. • The setting is Critical Role’s Wildemount; no prior knowledge of the setting is required. This is intended as a beginner campaign, though all experience levels are welcome. I bring custom maps, interesting NPCs, and a story-driven focus to the table while allowing you freedom of choice, which will have an impact on the world of your characters.

Meet the Game Master
About me
Call me Oginme, OG, or Cliff. I have been playing D&D since 1978 and ran my first homebrewed adventures two years later. I put the game aside for a couple of decades to focus on career and family. Then my son asked for a Dungeons and Dragons set for his birthday and asked me to create a campaign for him and his friends. I went on to DM for two additional groups who had been abandoned by their DMs and we ran campaigns lasting well over two years. A decision to leave a demanding and unrewarding job handed me an opportunity to take on running games and campaigns professionally. The term professional is not one I use lightly. I have read many books, listened to many live streams, and practiced at improv and writing to hone my skills. My constant stream of imagination and flight of fantasy are activated when DMing games of DnD. When not playing, planning, or creating for my games, I have a small herd of LaMancha dairy goats, plant an extensive garden, play guitar, read and listen to a whole lot of books, study a variety of subjects, and cook.

Creating your character
Characters will be created using a custom standard array. We will be using Roll20 for our character sheets. Pregenerated character sheets are available for use. Prior to our session 0, you have access to my compendium on Roll20 to check on options for your character species and class. I am always happy to help with answering any questions as you design your character and develop their back story of how they learned their craft and what motivates them to pursue a life of adventuring. Character species and class choices which are not contained in my shared compendium are not available for this campaign. This campaign will start at level 1 and progress to level 3.

What Oginme brings to the table
What you can expect: Maps, dice rolls, character sheets, and handouts will be on Roll20. Voice and music/ambient sounds will be over Discord. There is a dedicated discord channel for the game which will include areas for out of session role play, general session notes, lore and setting knowledge, and announcements. I will supply custom maps for most encounters and settings. The move to a map is not a sign that things will devolve into combat. Instead, there will be things on the map for you to take note of and use to your advantage. These maps are also more immersive with detail and color to make things interesting and show terrain and objects with which you can interact or use. I do create a written summary of each session on both the Roll20 game forum and on Discord for your personal enjoyment and/or review. Within the game, I will provide quality of life macros and mods to help smooth out game play. I assemble a soundtrack for each session to help with immersion and mood for the settings. You will find plenty of handouts to help with visualization and your reference further on in the campaign. I also supply a variety of tokens for NPCs and adversaries which assist with identification during encounters. Along with that, my NPCs are my characters in the game. Important NPCs have their own values, goals and objectives and will usually act with their own self-interest in mind. Do not expect creatures to fight to the last, nor will they purposefully try to exterminate you without cause. Most will attempt to flee when over matched and will not pursue characters who flee if it goes against their objectives or nature.

How Oginme creates a safe table
We will have a discussion of the campaign at our Session 0. Discussion will include a review of content warnings, discussion of lines and veils which will guide our behavior and topics during the sessions. During the sessions, X, N, O cards will be available in case any actions, situations, or comments cause discomfort and can be used to stop play to discuss the concerns at the table and find a way forward to avoid uncomfortable topics or situations. Following our sessions, I am available to discuss the session activity and give you a chance to voice those aspects which were exciting and fun, as well as those we should avoid in the future. There is a channel in the Discord server dedicated to stars and wishes which will allow you to call out exemplary actions by other players and allow you to ask for situations or items you would like to see in future games. As a rule, I am available most times during the week to discuss any issue you may have privately so I can address concerns before they become problems.
