About the adventure

Outlaws of Alkenstar is an adventure path set in the impossible lands. Specifically, the city of clockwork and technology known as Alkenstar, named after the man who created it. It is located in the mana wastes, a wasteland created by a magical war between 2 neighboring countries, where magic runs rampant and becomes unreliable, causing tech to become the main path of progress. You have been wronged by a man known as Ambrost Mugland and his accomplice, Deputy Loveless. A duo of a business mogul and a corrupt law officer. They screwed you over, they pushed you out of your home, and yet the city of Alkenstar rewards ambition, causing them to not face any real consequences. You've been contacted by a woman named Foebe Dunsmith, who has an opportunity to get back at those who wronged you. Will you accept? This adventure features heavily the steampunk and western aesthetics, so if those are your thing, this is the adventure for you. Hello! My name is Potatodemon, a relatively new GM in the grand scheme of things. For Adventure paths like this one, i prefer to run them mostly as they are written, mostly modifying encounters, if that. I enjoy a more light-hearted vibe, making silly jokes and adding fun traits to enemies and allies alike, yet treating those seriously in-game. In combat, i play more tactically, but to the limit of the enemies' knowledge.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen after session 0, which is also when character creation rules will be talked about. Firearms will be treated as common, and i in general prefer common items. Uncommon and rare i like to be informed about beforehand. And no items from Adventure Paths other than Outlaws of Alkenstar without asking me first, common or otherwise.

What Potatodemon brings to the table

I have been learning character voices for a while and trying to improve that skill. In addition i go for tactical combat, as i find it enjoyable to figure out tactics and go toe to toe with other players in it. I am a GM that sticks to RAW quite often, but i am very willing to forego it in order for a more fun story.
