About the adventure

You are Inquisitorial agents of the Imperium, sent to raid forbidden ruins, recover lost relics… and deal with whatever still waits beneath them. What begins as dangerous expeditions soon reveals something far older. Ancient structures react. Machines stir. Forgotten horrors awaken beneath dead worlds. And while the Imperium wages endless war across the galaxy, you may have uncovered something that should never have been found. This campaign blends pulp adventure, exploration, and creeping horror. Expect haunted tombs, rival expeditions, ancient mechanisms, forbidden relics, and discoveries that spiral out of control. You are not here to save the galaxy. You are here to dig into it… and deal with what answers back. 🌌 A Living Mythveil World The galaxy moves with or without you. War spreads. Factions maneuver. Resources shift. And all of it continues whether you act or not. Your discoveries change the balance of power. Your choices create lasting consequences. Your actions are remembered. You are part of something bigger — not the center of it. ⚔️ Sandbox + Consequences There is no fixed path. You will choose: which ruins to explore which factions to trust or betray what knowledge to recover… or destroy Every discovery attracts attention. Every expedition changes the sector. Every choice creates consequences that continue long after the mission ends. 🧠 Factions at War The Imperium is not united. It is a machine of competing powers. Patrons pursue hidden agendas. The Mechanicus seeks lost technology. Rogue Traders hunt profit and power. Others… watch from the shadows. Your discoveries will not stay yours for long. 💀 What This Game Is About Exploration of forbidden ruins Haunted tombs and ancient systems Rival expeditions and faction conflict Slow escalation into something far greater A galaxy-wide war that does not stop for you 🎭 Playstyle This game is for players who enjoy: investigation, exploration, and discovery meaningful choices with real consequences a mix of adventure → tension → horror → escalation character-driven decisions inside a living world You are not Space Marines. You are not chosen heroes. You are operatives sent into the unknown — and sometimes, the unknown answers back.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation takes place together during Session 0, so no prior experience with Imperium Maledictum is required. You begin as a shared cell of Imperial agents bound to a common Patron — a powerful figure whose ambitions, secrets, and influence shape your missions and your fate. In Imperium Maledictum, your Patron is not background flavor. They are your access to power… and the reason you may not survive it. ⚙️ System & Setup We use the Imperium Maledictum Core Rules (d100 system). Characters begin at Tier 1 and are created step-by-step together during Session 0. Character creation includes: Origin — where you come from Faction — who shaped you Role — how you survive in the field No prior system knowledge is needed. New players are fully welcome and guided through the process live. 🎭 Character Concept You are not heroes. You are assets of the Imperium. Your characters may include: Investigators and Interrogators Adepts and scholars Guardsmen and veterans Hive scum and survivors Specialists tied to your Patron’s hidden agenda Together, you form a field team sent into forbidden ruins to recover relics, uncover buried truths, and survive what awakens beneath them. ⚔️ Living World & Consequences This is a sandbox campaign set inside a living world. The galaxy does not wait for you. Wars continue. Factions maneuver. Secrets spread. Your actions shape how the sector reacts. Origins, alliances, and reputations matter long-term. Your discoveries can shift influence between powerful factions. And your choices do not reset once the mission ends. The world remembers. 🧠 Factions at War The Imperium is not united. It is a machine of competing powers. Patrons pursue hidden agendas. The Mechanicus hunts lost technology. Rogue Traders seek profit and forbidden knowledge. Others… watch from the shadows. And once something is uncovered, everyone will want a piece of it. 🎲 Playstyle & Tone This game focuses on: exploration, investigation, and discovery expedition horror and ancient ruins meaningful choices with lasting consequences slow escalation into something far greater character-driven decisions inside a dangerous living world Tone: capable, flawed, expendable Professionals… or people pretending to be. 🤝 Collaborative Creation Characters are built together to create: strong group cohesion shared history and tension immediate immersion in Session 1 Your team is not random. What Dunchan Hunter brings to the table

This is not just a game session. It is an evolving experience inside a living world. 🎭 Immersive Playstyle I focus on atmosphere through controlled, intentional presentation. Expect: descriptive narration grounded in sensory detail distinct NPCs with clear motives and personalities interaction-driven roleplay instead of scripted scenes Sound, silence, pacing, and timing are used carefully to build tension and emotional weight without overwhelming the experience. Tension is not forced. It grows naturally through exploration, discovery, and consequence. 🌌 A Living World The galaxy moves with or without you. Wars spread across sectors. Factions pursue hidden agendas. Resources shift. Alliances fracture. Conflicts escalate. Events continue whether you intervene or not. You are not following a scripted story. You are entering a world already in motion. ⚙️ Reactive Worldbuilding Your actions shape how the world responds. Behind the scenes, factions adapt, opportunities shift, and consequences continue long after individual missions end. This ensures: your decisions matter outcomes feel believable and earned the world reacts consistently over time Nothing simply resets once a session ends. ⚔️ Sandbox + Consequences There is no fixed storyline. You choose: which expeditions to pursue which factions to support or betray what knowledge to recover… or destroy Every action carries forward. Information spreads. Enemies adapt. And discoveries can reshape future conflicts across the sector. 💀 A Galaxy at War A larger conflict unfolds constantly in the background. Worlds fall. Factions gain or lose influence. Ancient discoveries destabilize entire regions. The war does not wait for you. But your actions may change its course. 🎲 Playstyle & Rules Rules are treated as a foundation for immersion, tension, and meaningful choices. Narrative consistency comes first. Tactical situations are taken seriously. And “Rule of Cool” applies when it strengthens the scene without breaking immersion. 🕯️ What You Can Expect strong atmosphere and controlled immersion a reactive world shaped by player action meaningful long-term consequences exploration, tension, and slow escalation narrative payoff earned through player decisions

Safety

How Dunchan Hunter creates a safe table

Player safety and comfort are a priority at this table. This is a dark setting, but the experience is always controlled, respectful, and collaborative. Safety tools exist to support immersion — not interrupt it. 🕯️ Session 0 & Boundaries Before the campaign begins, we establish boundaries together during Session 0. We use a Lines and Veils approach: Lines = hard limits that do not appear in the game Veils = subjects that may exist but remain off-screen or undescribed This document remains active throughout the campaign and can be adjusted at any time. ⚠️ In-Session Safety Tools During play, any player may pause, redirect, skip, or adjust a scene at any time. This can be done verbally or through chat. No explanation is required. If something crosses a boundary, the scene changes and the game moves forward without pressure or debate. 🤝 Open Communication You can contact me privately at any time. You are always free to: step away from the table ask for adjustments raise concerns or feedback check in after difficult scenes Player well-being always comes first. 🧠 Tone & Responsibility This is a grimdark setting focused on tension, horror, exploration, and consequence. However: discomfort is never the goal tension is intentional, not personal respect at the table matters more than intensity in the story The aim is immersive horror in a safe, collaborative environment.
