About the adventure
To the west of the city of Waterdeep, nestled into the woods, lies the abandoned estate of Mournedia. Or so it seemed until recently, when several Waterdhavians spotted its windows lit. Once the home of an extravagantly wealthy mine owner and his family, the estate has remained empty since their tragic demise under mysterious circumstances. In the 100 years since, it has seen various residents attempt to make it their own, only to be found dead or missing days after moving in. Every single person in the last week sent to investigate hasn't returned. Therefore, at the request of renowned Investigator Merric Highhill, a brave party of adventurers have been dispatched to see just what may be lurking inside the walls. This will be a dungeon-crawl, murder mystery, haunted mansion extravaganza! It will be appropriate for any level group and class you're playing. As you venture into the mansion, you'll uncover various secrets, puzzles, and odd characters. With maps from Czepeku, you'll see the estate go through several magical changes during your time there.

About me
Game Master for 6 years on Roll20, AlchemyRPG, as well as in-person. It is my absolute favorite thing to do in this world. My goal is to create an unforgettable experience that we can carry into our real lives. The characters we make tell the story about who we are. Through collaborative storytelling, we make each other braver, wiser, and, ultimately, kinder. I truly believe that TTRPG can be a powerful tool to help heal wounds. I would like to spread that belief as far and wide as I can. More than anything, I hope you'll allow me to work with you to tell a great story that will be remembered for years to come. 💗

Creating your character
Ideally, you'll want your character to be above or equal to level 5. I usually send out a survey link where you can let me know the type of character you will be running, where you can ask questions, and finalize your stats before we meet online. I'm open to complete beginners or season veterans. If you and/or your party are making your character(s) for the first time, we'll have a session zero where we can walk through that process free of charge.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
It would definitely be best to familiarize yourself with the Player's Handbook. I would prefer to run this on AlchemyRPG but would also be open to Roll20 if you have more familiarity with that site. Also, if you prefer Discord, I can easily set up a server for us, but both sites have built-in audio capabilities.
What Travis brings to the table
I will create a whole mansion full of random items and a cast of characters for you to interact with. I will also have lots of ambient/battle music, and plan to use sound effects to heighten the experience. We will primarily focus on RAW for a foundation, but I am not above allowing something creative to happen if the player can make a case for it. While it is a somewhat spooky setting, the name of the game is "fun", so there will be plenty to take you by surprise and relieve the tension.
Homebrew rules
I do prefer having drinking a potion as a bonus action, as well as having a critical hit against the player result in disabling a limb/eyesight/hearing until they have had a long rest.

How Travis creates a safe table
I like to send out a survey to determine not only what characters the players have in mind, along with their motivations, but also where their boundaries are. It also helps to establish rules. For example, if a single player is unable to make the session, we will continue as normal. If more than one player is unable to make it, we will postpone until the following week or whenever everyone is next available. I'm also open, to those who'd like it, a post-mortem on how to improve their playstyle/gaming experience after the game is complete, via a one-on-one chat. It's not always the easiest to enjoy an unfamiliar experience so I am here to listen and help in any way I can!
