About the adventure

Lunata: The Last Island is a DnD 5e campaign in a unique homebrew setting, featuring custom character, NPC and environment art -- a tale of high adventure in the post-post-apocalypse! Join me for some swords-and-sandals fantasy, Bronze-Age aesthetics and a heaping helping of the Weird, set in an insular world rife with secrets! ************************************************************** Lunata, last refuge of the living, is believed to be founded by a great savior deity and secreted away from the doomed and corrupted world by his final act of self-sacrifice. For generations, this kingdom has thrived in isolation, its people secure in the belief that the dark tides that swallowed the rest of the world would never reach them. Recent years, however, have given way to an eerie, withering curse, and strange, ghostly figures in uncanny masks haunt the margins of society, watching in the distance, gathering in the wake of floods, fires and storms. In reaction to these upheavals, the Augurs of the Faith, from their holy mountain citadel, have decreed the reinstatement of a long-defunct order of Knights. Even now, officers of the resurgent Vicarian Order scour the island entire for willing recruits -- any with strong hand or stout heart may enlist, to join the fight against the unraveling of world.

About me

Hi there! I'm Adam, I'm an illustrator and comic artist, and I've been GMing TTRPGs for over 10 years. When I'm not working with my partner Trout on our graphic novel, I'm constantly dreaming up adventures I want to run and worlds in which to run them! Getting to create custom art for my players is one of my favorite parts of being a GM, and that will absolutely carry forward into my campaigns here on StartPlaying! I have years of experience running DnD 5e, and I've run dozens of sessions of Cypher System, as well. I'm also extremely excited to start running games using the Wild Words system! I'm honestly really open to branching out and seeing what else I've been missing. If you're interested in seeing some of my previous work in the space, check out Brine & Blight, a Cypher campaign I ran a few years back, on YouTube! IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: As a matter of principle, none of my campaigns will ever make any use whatsoever of generative AI. I'm an artist and a creative, and I am categorically opposed to AI.

Character creation

Creating your character

Before jumping into the campaign proper, we'll get the table together for Session 0, where we can all go over our hopes, desires and expectations for the game! We can also use our Session 0 to collaboratively create player characters tailored to the tone and setting! For character creation, I prefer the 4d6, drop lowest style of rolling stats. In my games, players roll for their HP, though I encourage players to reroll 1's.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

-Players should be prepared to be on camera for my campaigns -We'll have a discord server for ease of communication between sessions as well as for voice/video during sessions -Foundry login (free version, I will have the paid version)

What Adam brings to the table

Setting/Lore document Hand drawn campaign setting map Hand drawn NPC tokens Hand drawn portraits for PCs (Completed after 3 sessions) Character voices (PCs are encouraged to do so too!) Ambient music I love tactically satisfying combat, but rule of cool exists in my games!

Homebrew rules

-Drinking a potion is a bonus action -There is extremely limited access to resurrection magic in my games -No intra-party insight/deception/persuasion/intimidation rolls -My games include homebrew equipment, monsters, and spells

Safety

How Adam creates a safe table

I make use of Lines and Veils in every single campaign I run, sent as an anonymous Google form prior to our first session, as well as message-based X/N/O cards during play. Before jumping into the campaign proper, we'll get the table together for a free-of-charge Session 0, where we can all go over our hopes, desires and expectations for the game! We can also use our Session 0 to collaboratively create player characters tailored to the tone and setting!
