About the adventure

🌲 If you’re drawn to: • Dangerous secrets in small, isolated villages • Eerie forests that feel a little too alive • Folk-horror mysteries built on quiet, creeping unease • Difficult choices without clean answers This is not a heroic campaign. Reckless actions have consequences and survival is not guaranteed. 🕯️ What this game feels like at the table • Roleplay and investigation drive the story forward • Combat is deadly, fast and often avoidable • The world reacts to your choices in lasting ways • You are not heroes of this land - you are outsiders in it The campaign begins with a strange tale known as Winter’s Daughter, and continue through a series of connected story arcs, each spanning roughly 10–15 sessions. 🌱 New to D&D? You’re welcome. • Rules explained as we play • Help with character creation and use of VTT • A calm, respectful table where everyone has space to engage ⚙️ System D&D 5e (2024) rules with a grounded, old-school approach: • Less focus on optimization, more on decisions • Exploration, tension, and consequences matter • Creative problem-solving is always rewarded

About me

🕯️I run folk horror D&D games set in small, isolated places where something is wrong, even if no one will admit it. My games are grounded and clear. I like to guide players through environments using 3D maps, pictures and ambient sounds, so you always understand where you are, how spaces connect, and what surrounds you. You’re not just being told about a place - you’re inside it. 🗝️ My tables are roleplay-heavy, focused on atmosphere, character interaction, and meaningful consequences rather than performance or spectacle. When combat happens, it means something has already gone wrong. 👁️You are not heroes passing through - you are part of a place that existed before you arrived.

Character creation

Creating your character

Characters are created on D&D Beyond using official D&D 5.5e rules (2024). We use Standard Array - this keeps the party balanced and the stakes meaningful. New to D&D? There’s a short, beginner-friendly step-by-step guide on our Discord. It takes about 10 minutes. I’m also happy to answer questions and help tie your character to the world before Session 1.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Before Session 1, you’ll need: • A character sheet on D&D Beyond • The AboveVTT browser extension (Chrome or Firefox) • A stable microphone and headphones • Webcam is optional - voice-only is completely fine Setup links and a short, step-by-step walkthrough are available on the game’s Discord server. If you’re new to online play, I’ll help you get everything working before we start.

What Alex Lantz brings to the table

• Clear custom maps, location artwork, visual inserts • Ambient sound and music used with intention • Distinct in-character NPC voices • A world that reacts to your decisions, not a script • 15–20 minutes after each session to reflect and discuss (optional)

Homebrew rules

⚖️ Homebrew Rules & Approach This game uses D&D 5e as a foundation, with a few adjustments to support a more grounded, folk-horror tone: • Combat is dangerous — not all encounters are meant to be fought • Healing and recovery are slightly more limited than in standard 5e • Player decisions and positioning matter more than strict balance • Exploration, resource management, and caution are important Characters are not guaranteed to survive, replacement characters may be introduced if needed. I focus on consistency and fairness over strict rules-as-written, and I’ll always explain any rulings at the table.

Safety

How Alex Lantz creates a safe table

I use a simple, low-friction approach to safety tools. Players can speak up during play or message me privately on Discord at any time. If a pause or adjustment is needed, we take a short break and move on without drawing unnecessary attention to the issue.
