About the adventure

A calamity of global proportions devastates the old world, casting its survivors into an age of darkness, savagery, and bare survival against the horrors that lurk in the night. It is only when the Hearth ignites once more in the sky that ancient machines awaken from their forced slumber and guide the people toward safety and the reconstruction of the ecumenopolis, the neverending world-city known as the Neighborhood. Centuries later, a new age of invention and competition leads to the discovery of fabricated magic whose raw materials are extracted from the very phenomena of the world and transformed into ingenious creations, urban expansion, or weapons of war. The fabrication advances relentlessly, forcing its way forward with strong and often cruel hands. Powers of cosmopolitan ambitions wage a fierce struggle for the largest share, willing to sacrifice everything in the name of progress, even humanity itself. As the expansion displaces natives and suffocates nature, it responds with a virulent and untamable infestation that spreads through the depths of the Neighborhood. Corrosive and stubbornly adaptive, this lost biome seems to possess a will of its own. Beneath its tumorous and vibrant surface, among corpses and absorbed memories, a secret history unfolds, that of the first beings to inhabit this world and how they were... left behind. — Themes: Nature and Progress, Tradition and Transformation, Beauty in the Monstrous, The Cycle of Life, to Love is to Survive, the Monomyth, Relative Morality. About me

Hello! I'm Iago, an Artist, Indie Game Designer, and Pro GM from Brazil. Currently in college getting good at computers so I can one day make Disco Elysium 2. In the meantime: Tabletop storytelling is my lifeblood, and what I was put on this earth to do. My earliest memories are of my cousin and me building Lego worlds, creating friends and foes to populate them. Now I do it through the web, with you all. I personally believe our hobby has been with us since the cognitive revolution, when collective fictions first appeared as drawings on cave walls. We turned it into a game through mathemagical rocks and random tables, but it’s all the same at heart. And in those 70.000 years, we’ve only scratched the surface. I look forward to exploring and gaming with kind adventurers from all walks of life as we Start Playing.

Character creation

Creating your character

Pre-generated characters are available, but character creation is also offered as an optional, free-form conversation before the game between you and me. Together, we find the intersection between the game world and whatever makes you tick, then shape a character from that (playsheet and all) and fully integrate them into our story! It’s a guided process I’ve done countless times, and one I’ve come to appreciate as a fun and rewarding experience in its own right, bringing fictional life into creation alongside you.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

1. Join the Discord server (The Vampire Attic). 2. Review the Onboarding Packet for everything you need to get started. 3. Choose a pre-generated character or talk to me about creating your own. 4. On game day, hop into the “Playing” voice channel and enjoy!

What Iago brings to the table

I run collaborative, player-driven games where the story emerges from what excites the table! I come prepared with strong ideas and a deep feel for the system and setting, leaving intentional space to improvise and discover things together. My style is cinematic and character-focused, and I use voices, atmosphere, and soundtracks to bring scenes to life. I generally follow the rules as written, bending them with a bit of rule-of-cool and some homebrewed fun when it meaningfully improves the experience. Sessions flow dynamically between action, exploration, and roleplay based on what best serves the group. My settings are original, shaped by past play, and explore themes like community, humanity, and the strange; mixing intimate and weird sandbox moments with bursts of high-stakes action drama! I host games through my Discord community, hopping between theater of the mind and tactical tools as needed. I treat this as a craft I’m always refining, and I’m committed to making each game better than the last. Each game also comes with a neat Onboarding Packet that contains: * A setting presentation. * A list of pre-generated characters. * Form-fillable blank character sheets. * Cheat sheets for rules reference. A free and optional Session 0 before game-day is always guaranteed for campaign play.

Safety

How Iago creates a safe table

I make it a top priority to run a respectful, inclusive table where everyone shares ownership of the experience. To support that, I use a clear Code of Conduct and a short pre-game questionnaire (Min-Maxes) to align expectations, preferences, and boundaries before play begins. This allows me to tailor sessions to each player’s sensibilities and maintain a safe, collaborative environment where people can engage with confidence and comfort. In play, I actively listen to players, follow what excites them, and encourage play grounded in kindness and consideration. My role is to guide that shared space with professionalism, weaving everyone’s contributions into something cohesive and fun.
