About the adventure

Public Access is a tabletop roleplaying game that takes players through the strange and uncanny valley of Deep Lake, New Mexico. Players take on the roles of curious young adults who revisit their rural hometown, and who are thrust into a series of increasingly weird and dangerous mysteries as they search for answers to an urban legend from their childhood: what happened to TV Odyssey? The game is very open-ended and player-focused, we will focus on telling a great story by working together and creating our own version of Deep Lake.

About me

I am a writer, gamer, and small-time voice actor. I have loved role-playing games since I was 10 years old, and show no signs of stopping now! I have played at a ton of great digital tables over the last few years, and want to bring that energy to my own digital tables here on StartPlaying! I have experience in a ton of different systems, ranging from D&D to Brindlewood Bay (and a lot in between). I pride myself on making my tables fun and inclusive for every person that chooses to spend their valuable time with me. Right now I'm just looking for cool people to play cool games with, I hope you can be one of them! Feel free to reach out to me at any time and chat about what kind of games you've been looking to try out!

Character creation

Creating your character

We will all create our characters together during Session 0! I find it help everyone to see each character come together (and there is a part of character creation that involves the other players)

What to expect

Preparing for the session

We will be using a private Discord server and Google Sheets Character Keeper to play. So you will need a Discord and Google account, but that's about it!

What Billy L brings to the table

I am the type of GM that focuses a lot on player enjoyment. That doesn't mean that horrific things won't happen, but I will always keep our fun at the forefront of my mind. Checking in during difficult scenes and making sure we are all on the same page is something we will all do! I don't tend to speak in voices or do accents, but I do try and give the players a lot of room to add to the world in-game (Public Access itself works very well for this, as it's rules-as-written!) I will also have a Character Keeper available for everyone to have access to at any time. Basically come ready to have fun and help each other tell a great story full of nostalgia & horror!

Safety

How Billy L creates a safe table

We will have extensive safety tool talk during our (free!) Session 0, but my usual safety tools include (but is not limited to); The Open Door Policy (if you have to leave for any reason, it's okay!), X-Card (digital/message/camera), Lines & Veils (built into the Character Keeper), and Stars & Wishes (a great way to distance ourselves from the Characters at the end of a session and check-in) No game is more important than the people playing it. I want us all to have fun and be able to play in that space where we can be 'uncomfortable' in a fun way.
